We use the entry level Belkin KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switches a lot at work.

http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProdu...KVMSwitches%2F is the entry level 2 port OmniCube that works a treat.

Jungle.com, dabs.com etc sell them.

Chris.

I have a desktop PC and a notebook that I would like to use with one plasma screen. Is there some sort of a switch that I could buy that would enable me to be able to connect both and switch between the two ?

ooh, I was thinking about just this the other day. Hopefully someone will know about one.

You could always buy a decent monitor with both types of connector on the back and just use the monitor's menu to switch like I do.

I looked at the Belkin Omnicube (2 port) but i was ideally looking for something that does not need mains power.

Old, but I use a box badged as Dakota Vista (Rose Electronics) which is a 4-way KVM. Doesn't require mains power, but isn't 100% compatible with some trackballs, but OK with MS Intellimice. Keyboatr switchable with hot keys.

Cheers

I use one from blackbox... dont get a manual one (non electronic) also make sure you buy good quality cables..

Mine lets me switch by using my two right mouse buttons...

Can run from mains, but takes power from ps/2 port.
