Medal of Honour - mini comments.

Played the above yesterday, have to say i was VERY impressed.
The atmosphere generated by the music/sound and gfx is very immersive.
It also plays (imo) a bit like a 'sim' rather than the usual fps, its not quite as sim as say rogue spear or ghost recon, but its nowhere near as 'arcade' as rtcw either.
It seems to sit nicely bridging gaps between say Operation flashpoint and rctw.
I read the reviews in PC zone, and had to say i did laugh when i read about the reviewer feeling empathy with his computer generated team mates when they were killed. But I have to say I did get really mad when my SAS friend got dropped, i've never really known anything like that in a game before........
maybe im just getting old and soft....
I only played about two full missions yesterday (operation torch and the u-boat pens) but was very impressed with what i saw.
If it wasn't for Halo this would probably be my number 1 fps, its close, but Halo just edges it for me. I would have liked the developers to have adopted something similar to Halo's two weapon carry limit, after all how can your little lieutenant carry a pistol, a snipers rifle, two types of hand grenades and a machine gun? I think this would have really added another element to the game if Ammo and weaps were restricted and to be used with caution.
The only part i found slightly disappointing so far was the bit were your manning the machine gun in the jeep, its all a bit linear, if i had played this first I would probably have been quite happy, but after playing Halo and seeing how the driving and flying of vehicles is used in that so effectively and without restrictions made this a little poor imo.
Nice bits :-
Sound - very atmospheric.
Empathy with computer controlled characters (very strange).
Interesting mix of blast your way through, creep around undetected, dress like a german and blag your way past checkpoints missions.
Very impressive enemy and ally AI.
Skill levels seem very well balanced, played on medium and it was challenging in places. Console developers please take note
Not so nice :-
The way a guard miles away knows exactly when your about to poke your head round a corner, while your still trying to spot where he is.
The jeep bit, no feeling of speed and very linear.
Bear in mind the not so nices are VERY small when taken into account against the rest of this awesome game.

Got frustrated when I shot some guy in the face about four times with the sniper rifle and he would not die, I then realised it was re-enforcements when he started to speak in an american accent.

Oi,
I got so into CS so much the other night that I was like a man possesed and shot anything that moved!
That damn american came running towards me waving a gun so what was I supposed to do? They teach you not to hesitate in the SAS so I was just following orders!
p.s. I have only got 16 team mate kills, whats wrong with that??

I don't think I will be around until sunday I am afraid m8. If I am going to be then I will mail you.
My lady is going travelling for 6 months in March so we can be sad CS geeks together.
Expect to see me and roadrunner on some german games cable channel clutching a trophy with our dirty long finger nails, greasy lank hair, pot noodle stained iron maiden t-shirts while laughing nervously as the big busted presenter as she asks us a series of questions.

Must get round to installing the single player demo - still haven't checked it out yet.
Really enjoyed Medal Of Honor 1, albeit on PS1. I understand PTHOLT's comments on the atmosphere bit - the 1st was very strong in that area too.
