ps3 40GB Or 60GB
Excuse me been a little bit tick on these matter.
Is it just the memory size here we`re talking and if so how much difference does it make.
The 1st one to say 20GB is not funny.....FACT

PS3 60GB is backward compatible with PS2 games 40GB is not.
Check this site for a more detailed technical difference.
60GB PS3 vs 40GB PS3
If you cannot get your hands on a 60GB, wait for the 80GB.

you also miss out on card reader and for me most importantly SACD funtion
Try pc world they are still advertising 60gb packages but it's a post code lottery, when I got mine I got 2 games + 60gb version for £349.99 they were also doing a £439.99 package with 4 games an extra conroller, charger and remote for the DVD which I thought was good value but didn't fancy 3 of the 4 games, I don't do wrestling !
The lads on av forums have also noticed Game are still getting a few in, but a 4 disc package for £400 + but you have to be lucky I watched their site the other night and they had stock of 3 different packages but sold out within an hour.
I believe the 80gb hasn't been confirmed for the UK but its almost certain it will come, you can get a yank one on line for $499 !! I would imagine when it comes out here it wont be £349.99 +2 games.
I heard a rumour that Sony are upping the prices of the games come March

Sony aren't as fussy about upgrading the HDD in the PS3 as MS are with the 360, Sony know its going to happen sooner or later so have just accepted it - you can change quite easily apparently, just have to take a panel off the back and its there to be whipped out and replaced by any Laptop SATA drive - 320gb drives are proving pretty popular by all accounts - gives a minor performance boost also - with the emphasis on "minor".
Had a PS3 for 6 months and despite having loads of PS2 games, none have them have ever been anywhere near the new console - not tried the card reader either, but as it's no trouble connecting the PS3 to my computer (automatically found it wirelessly) its not really necessary and I'm not suprised Sony ditched it.
Wouldn't be suprised if the backwards compatibilty was included in a future update but I doubt its a feature thats a driving factor behind people buying one.
40gb or 60gb, either way, once you've gotten use to 1080p - you wont want to dirty it with SD material.

There was an article on engadget yesterday about someone who's built a RAID 0 array containing 9 SSD drives - it reads and writes 4gb files in 4 secs...
back to be PS3 though - the read time on BR in games is a bit on the slow side - vehicle selection in MotorStorm is endless...
