iPod 40gb battery life
I bought an iPod 40Gb last week (with iTrip which is bloody fab).
When I charge the battery from totally flat (like i did last night), it says charged, but when i put it in the dock and transfer music to it, it only shows half charged on the battery meter. It also only plays back for about 4 hours from a full charge.
I have only fully charged it from empty 3 times now, so i was wondering if it is supposed to do that, and the battery only gives full capacity after a few charges.
Anyone got any ideas ?
Dave

Here we go again....
The iPod battery will take a few charges to reach full capacity. However, if it still doesn't perform as stated within 3 full charge/discharge cycles, return it. Just because it's an Apple product doesn't make it immune from DOA or other problems.
As stated in the iPod Lounge link, measure battery performance on actual playing time, not the battery meter (which is my only annoyance with the product).
The iPod battery IS replaceable, the procedure is the same as PDAs like the Palm V and iPaq 3xxx series. Simply pop off the back and replace with a battery from a 3rd party supplier. Cost is around £50.
