I guess you got lucky or there was more stock delivered than pre-orders. Myself and many other forums members (AVForums and others) had a wait even after they said they were in stock. I suppose my point is that although Play say they are in stock, its no guarantee that they actually are

Superb IMO, but then I only have one HD-DVD at the moment Picture, sound and menu function is greatly improved over DVD.
The only let down is when its playing an HD-DVD the 360 whirs away at full volumne. I'll certainly be chopping mine in for a new one if they're quieter.

I'm holding off on the PS3 until there's some software worth getting one for
I'm also not getting a 360 HD drive. If / when I decide to make the leap to HD movies, I'll get a decent standalone player which can handle both formats. Will be quieter than either of the consoles, and I won't be stuck with one HD format or the other.

I can't wait that long for the standalone players to be sensibly priced or for one format to take over. I want HD movies and I want them now This is still a fantastic option if you own a 360 and at a great price.

Dunk,
your 360 must be ill because my one is quiet when the HD drive is playing most of the noise from my 360 is it's DVD drive and that isn't spinning.
I've still to buy a few more HD dvd's but I'll get round to it this time offshore (nothing eles going on ) fancy Riddick and Babel now that it's out.

I had a feeling it could be There was nothing in the normal DVD drive either, but it was loud as hell. Only watched F&F Tokyo Drift so far, so I'll try it again and see if its the same.

My 'mended' drive returned on Monday, competely new unit which surprised me as M$ said they would only send the drive back and to keep the PSU/Remote etc. At least I now have spares Didn't get a spare King Kong tho
I watched F&F Tokyo Drift on Monday but my 360 is in the dining room so I can't here it, got to love wireless controllers. Shame the media remotes are IR
Big reason for my purchase is the plasma does 720p/1080i but only has component in. Hoping to wait until the true 1080p sets are rocking before I upgrade telly again so no HDMI/HDCP is important to me.
