Question Buying mates Apple 17" G4 PB (1.67ghz, 80gb, 1g), WIW ?

As title, my mate is thinking of upgrading to an Intel MBP and has offered me 1st refusal on his laptop. I was going to get an Intel Mini, but as this would work out around £200 cheaper and retain full portability I have to consider it. My old G3 PB is getting well past it (400mhz, 9.8g, 320mb). I also intend to get an Intel Mini as a media centre fairly soon, so one desktop devise and one portable makes sense in that respect too. There are some on eBay for around £300 with 12 hours left right now, but where will they end up ?
Is it worth £700, or should I bully him down ?

£700 is quite reasonable for that. Watch what the others on ebay go for though.

What are you going to be using it for ?

£700 is an absolute bargain, you could get £1000+ easily on ebay.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll bite his hand off when the opportunity arises then. Just gotta wait for him placing his order for his new 17"MBP. He may be holding out to see what happens with the Merom/Woodcrest chips and for more apps to go universal for now.

I may flog it on if it's worth £1k and buy 2 Mini's with the proceeds. One for general work and the other as a media centre

Whilst I love the G4 PBs you have to question is it worth more than the latest MacBook with dual Intel 2.0s, superdrive, desktop extending video (rather than mirroring) .

Personally I would say not, ok its a bigger screen..

There is a Apple Powerbook G4 1.67Ghz 17" 1680x1050 with 2GB RAM
on fleabay (8827475811) currently at £720 with reserve not met...
Will be interesting to see if it gets to a grand.
