I thought ie7 was only available as part of vista, didn't realise you could get a beta download for xp. Trying it now

Hmm, doesn't exactly seem bug free. Only been running it 5 minutes and I've already had it crash once, and it seems to have problems rendering certain elements. It's not getting the z-order correct for positionable divs for example.
Still, it's only a beta

Been using it for a couple of weeks and i dont like it.
Miss having the File, menu along the top. Cant find a button to search whats on the page. Since installing it, ive now found i like firefox lol good one M$!
EDIT: Just figured out F10 brings up the menu but then it goes again!? Found the quick tabs, not impressed!

You should feed that information back into MS. That's what the beta is for
I use firefox as well, but when using it all day for web development, you soon realise that it has it's fair share of bugs as well. I get it to locking up / hanging fairly frequently, although it does seem to do a good job of rendering stuff in the latest release (a lot of the bugs from the previous release have gone).
I find it too unstable for everyday use, and I don't trust the security in it, (in fact I trust the security less than Internet Explorer).

i think the tabs are excellent
the only reason i found this version is i had the grand idea today of "why can't i see a semitransparent thumbnail image of the page of the link i'm hovering over??"
bit late to patent it

Hello
I've been using it and I think it is good. Not really a revolution (or in fact too much different). I like the tabs (although they look a bit naf in the Beta version).

Not as far as I know. A few people from Microsoft that I know said that the tabs will look much better than they do now.
I'm using 7.0.5112

As Iain rightly says - FF is by no means perfect and a lot of bugs have come to light as its popularity has increased - this is inevitable. And so the same will happen with IE7. The difference is that for many people, anything that MS produces is immeadiately an object of hate for them, so expect to the exploits coming thick and fast - I'm sure some of my technical team are working on it at the moment

This in itself isn't too bad for a single page, but if dealing with forms, and the form it dies on is the 5th in a sequence (for example), it can be quite annoying.
I've replicated this on 4 different machines, so I know it's nothing to do with my setup. I've also noticed that it has memory leaks which are evident after it's been running for a while.
I'm also a little worried about the number of fairly large security holes that have been found in it recently, some of which have allowed very low level access into the system. They have been fixed (although not as quickly as I'd like), but it makes you wonder what else is lurking in there...
It does look prettier than ie6/7 though

been using it work a few months or so, not bad, but is it just me, or when you are typing a messahe/post on scoobynet, if you make a typo, normally you backpsace to the problem and then start typing again, but in ie7, as you backpsace it does not delete the characters and you have to guess where you typed or start typing again where the cursor is. fecking annoying i can tell you. try it yourself and see if it just me going mad or not

yes your right it does do that
also i find a little annoying is when you open up another tab its blank and cant get it going to your homepage(got it going to google) i know its only beta but aols one has been around for over a year, holding back on the good stuff or will it really be this poor
