Default Wireless signals How to.......

Make the signal stronger?

Im using a BT voyager 2091 wireless modem, router. It works fine when im within 10ft of it, as soon as go up stairs, I lose the signal.

I've tried it the other wayround modem up stais at the highest point, but then i dont get a signal downstairs!

Is there a way to boost the signal from my voyager 2091. There is no connection point for another aerial and the original aerial does not seem to detach!

Is there any hope?

You could tring getting an access point and using it as an extender this will take your original signal then bounce it on

Had this problem with my D-Link. In the end I replaced my original arial on the back of my wirless network card for a bigger multi directional one. And I now have a signal.

You can buy a repeater that will bounce the signal farther from the access point. It is placed roughly half way between the access point and the PC. Quite expensive though. You may just be better off buying a stronger antenna as suggested.

Have a look here for antennas. They also supply repeaters.

Have you tried changing the Channel? It may not be the same problem but when I installed BT Voyager Wireless at home I found that the signal on Channel 8 (the default) was crap!! Changed it 11 and it goes like a good un

EDITED TO ADD: It's Monday morning and I may have the Channel numbers the wrong way round... but defo worked for me

not only that is there a power option in the settings? You may only be transmitting on like 60% power?

Also point the aerials in the direction that you want it to reach if possible

Something could be causing interference, as above try changing the channel. You could also try disconnecting all other wireless devices including telephones also your TV as well and see if your signal strength is improved.
