How do I disable this??
#4
I have DISABLED both the SUPERVISORS password and the USERS password in the BIOS. I have saved the new settings but it has made no difference at all, it still asks for a LOGON password upon booting.
I keep getting the same advice from other Forums, telling me to go into the BIOS.
Can someone PLEASE offer me advice that doesn't entail going into the BIOS!! It doesn't appear to work!!
Cheers,
Craig.

If you can get into the BIOS then did you have to enter the password before it would let you into the BIOS?

This is bizarre!!
I tried to update the BIOS but the website said there was no need as I have the latest version.
I'n not on a network either.
There is no password to enter the BIOS, just holding down DEL upon booting.

Have you tried resetting your BIOS? To do this though will set all BIOS settings to default. To reset the BIOS on some motherboards requires pressing and holding the 'Insert' key on your keyboard. On most others it means moving a plastic jumper from one set of pins to another, or removing the lithium flat battery from the motherboard whilst the power is switched off.

Is it actually the BIOS password you can't get past or the operating system (Windows) password ?
If you can still get into Windows without having to enter a password (ie. just by pressing enter when it asks you to log on) then you just have to change the way users log on. Go to Control Panel and click on User Accounts. Click 'Change the way users log on or off'. Make sure 'Use the Welcome Screen' is ticked and then reboot to check it.
If it's the BIOS you can't get past then probably the easiest thing to do is just re-set the CMOS by shorting pins 2 & 3 on JP4. Look in the motherboard manual and track down which jumper resets the CMOS and just short the two pins for a few seconds, before putting the jumper cap back onto pins 1 & 2.
