Transfering files between PC's
Can I transfer files between 2 boxes, via ethernet card to ethernet card?
If so, how? I need to enable print and file sharing dont I?

You need a rj45 crossover cable and yes you need to enable file and printer sharing.
Also if you have XP - just use networking wizard.

I running 98SE on 1 and win2k on the other, is it possible?
Is a normal cat5 cable ok, or do I need a crossover cable?

Needs to be a crossover, or you have to use a HUB with standard cable - operating systems don't matter. Network wizard the Win2000 then make a floppy at the end of the wizard and run the exe file from floppy on the win98 machine.

Or you could do it manually - by going ito network places then select properties, then TCP/IP and type in a fixed address e.g.
198.98.198.10
255.255.255.0
Then same on next computer but change to
198.98.198.20
The computers should now see each other and will default to the basic MSHOME workgroup.
