Are You My Last hope ??
I'm pulling my hair out here,
I got the Xbox, got a live account , got ADSL setup, and all cabled up fine ..I think, but theres something still not right
Xbox connects to live and runs fine, no sign of lag. but every hour or so "live" disconnects even though my pc is still connected to my ADSL.
Also the headset sounds very stuttery and I cant really hear whats going on.I've got another headset now , but that does the same
Is Anyone in the Leeds area who knows about these things ,willing to come and have a look and tell me whats wrong or what I need to buy now ??
Long shot , but I dont know what to do next, apart from giving it flying lessons (out the window)
Phil

nothing else is using any bandwidth as far as I can tell.
The modem is an Alcatel Speedtouch USB and I have the latest drivers . Where am I likely to find any Modem patches from ?

Not having an X-Box I don't really know the fine details of how it connects but I would assume your problem is something to do with firewalling.
I'm guessing you are using internet connection sharing on your PC if you are using a USB DSL modem. If you have turned on the XP firewall or are using another personal firewall, you are probably blocking various inbound ports that need to be open on the X-Box for its VOIP (voice over IP) technology to function.
Additionally its possible that the Live service pings the X-Box periodically to check if its still there - if your firewall is blocking pings (called inbound ICMP echo requests in your firewall config) then you might be getting cut off cos it thinks you are no longer there.
I may be way off - but just a thought.

Cheers mogsi, but did that already (remember that from my DC hub running days).
It also says in the settings that 10% bandwidth is reserved for system use.. any way of getting that back ??
