Someone on here must have a virus! I had just deleted 34, yes 34 e-mails that contained viruses and most came with the names of people on this bbs as the senders. I have now deleted another 3 that arrived almost straight away. What's going on?!

Sounds like your virus detector is out of date.
Not the MSBLAST worm thats been doing the rounds is it ?

My virus detector is working overtime deleting all the bloody viruses. It updates everytime I go on line so how can it be out of date?

er, because they have not incorporated it into the weekly/daily update log.

Go online to your provider for Virus software, and get an instant fix for this virus.

This is not just Scoobynet related.

I've had 16 virus files attached to emails in the past two hours. I usually get one or two a day. None of them are from Scoobynet members as far as I can tell.

Something is up.

Cheers

It all finishes on the 10th of september - thats when the virus expires, I've had it a couple of times too, I get the movie045 file. Using Norton AV picks it up in the email straight away and deletes it.

This one's infecting a whole lot of people, no stand alone scanner for McAfee customers our standard product detects and removes it quite nicely. We've updated Stinger for non McAfee customers Here

I'm with Jack on this one. Using McAfee/NAI for the past 2.5yrs here @ work. We receive viruses daily, but McAfee has never failed to detect and remove any of these viruses. I've used their software for the past 6yrs perosnally and I've never had any of my own PC's infected yet.

Used to spend a fair old amount of time removing them from customers sites though.

Make sure you all have firewall software that blocks exploitable ports AND have a good virus scanner installed and check for updates daily. I don't rely on the software to check itself, I'll always make a point of visiting the NAI site just incase of a new release.

We use a combination of NAI A/V and Lotus Notes so we're cool - never get virus outbreaks anymore

Good stuff guys. If you fancy coming to Aylesbury to see what we get up to we have a customer day first week of every month where we tour the labs and let you know what's new. Would be good to see a car park full of Scoobs.

I'm being bombarded with Sobig. All the emails I'm getting seem to be routed through a university server in Wales. I wish their techies would turn their mail server off and give me a break!

I have started getting a lot of emails "re my details" or something like that with an attached file which turns out to be a virus. Is this the same thing?

I am wondering if some where a server is sending out emails pretending to be you using your address, because I am also getting a lot of bounced emails.

The worm can "spoof" email addresses, i.e. use false sender details. The worm may be sending email out from somebody's else computer, but making it appear that the email comes from you.

This is a big touch wood moment, but haven't received anything as yet - using PC-Cillin by Trend, and Sygate. Connected 14 hours a day via ADSl as well.
