Who stocks rain x, I have tried my local Halfords but they did not have it.

Bought mine from Halfords. They also had own-brand stuff. It's good and it works I put it on all windows but not the windscreen, apart from the small areas where the wipers don't reach, ie down driver's side A-pillar.

Ive used it and its seems OK to me. Much better on long wet motorway journeys.

BTW, Tesco's sell it, cheapest Ive seen.

 

Try rain wizzard(i think its called without visiting the shed) its the one halfords sell in a bright pink sex aid shaped bottle!! it needs re applied every month, so if you dont want it on yer screen just leave it! at speed you almonst dont need wipers!

I use it all the time.I can't see how people say don't use it.Try driving down the motorway in the pouring rain and turn your wipers off.Not a very clever thing to do but with rainx you would not notice the difference.In some conditions I prefer the wipers off as with the rain beading off the windscreen visability is better.

ok use it but if it wears of slightly and you cant get anymore it goes all smeary and you can never remove it ,apart from that its ok if you apply it every week

Are you sure it's not your wiper rubbers ?
I ask cos it only ever smeared on my cars when first applied then no problem - great for the side windows & mirrors to reduce dew / light frost in autumn/winter

 

pukka stuff......get some weired looks as you drive down the motorway with no wipers going......i think it gives better visibility with no wipers going..

 

Applying anything to the windscreen like RainX with deteriorate, the wiper blades cut into it and then it causes problems (for some people) as the blades aren't able to clean the rain off effectively.

I have a friend that put it on his car (okay it was the brother-in-law), he was pleased when he had a chip in the windscreen and could get it changed! It was the only way he could get rid of the stuff!

I put the Wax Wizard was on the side and rear windows and that works like RainX but I would never go near the windscreen. Non silicon based cleaner and new blafes every six months or so!

 

I find rain X good, but you need to apply it properly, and probably works best after second application.

As said, over 50-60ish you don't need the wipers.

Trick is to the clean the WIPERS often as they get crap on which can smear when you use them in light rain.

I'm with Paul - and while I have moved onto another product (Glaco - which has even less smearing and longer life - never seen it outside Japan though), the stuff is excellent - a safety feature really. Much better visibility in the rain all around, really helps.

The first time you apply it go in 2 directions - vertical and side to side to cover the glass evenly - then leave to dry while doing all the other bits, then give it another coat. A quick wipe with a damp cloth should remove most of the residue...

Clean your wiper baldes regularly and you should be fine - I carry a wiper style cleaner around to keep the crap off all the glass too(and the beading is much more effective coz of that). Presto - no more squinting through the rain

Note: some people do not like it on the wiper area...you may want to try it on the pax side first.

Ive only applied it twice in 6 months. Its been fine. Trick is to read the bottle. It says to wash your windows often, every time you use the wipers.

 

i use Flash Off, sold through EARS motorsport. In independant tests this came out best product on the market.

AFAIR prepare glass with something similar to jeweller's rouge (to get it smooth), apply stuff and wait for it to dry, wash off excess with water

did a good job on M62 every day but you've got to keep your screen clean for it to work properly the dirtier the screen, the faster you've to drive, honest ocifer

wasn't much kop below 30-40mph i.e. round town unless spotless screen

not using on wrx as it was a lot of work and I don't go fast enough now (well, most of the time )

I use it all the time..wouldn't be without it now.

It's amazing in the rain, although not much use in light drizzle.

As it wears off you sometimes get vertical lines where the wiper stops/changes direction..to cure this put some more on then either buff with kitchen roll, or squirt the wash wipes and hey presto back as good as new.

Used it on my last car and never had to change the wiper blades (in 3 years)..probably because they weren't used much.

Another advantage is that flies come off really easily...

I use it and it works, been using it since 1982 (moped visor) it does not work as well if you do not follow the instructions to the letter and the sceen is not completely clean to begin with.

 

Anyone use the glass cleaning compound you get from rain X, I didn't find it made any difference

 

Always used RainX - great stuff. It certainly works best in steady rain, rather than light drizzle. Minor inconvience given the much improved visability. I've also had the strange looks whilst driving on the motorway, pouring with rain and no wipers on!

Regular cleaning of the wiper blades is a must (shouldn't it always be though?) - make sure you get all the dirt and oil/greese build up off them - washing up liquid is as good as anything - very powerful degreaser.

I've also found that using the RainX windscreen wash helps and you get much less smearing.
