Wasted trip to the pod today with the drag car as it rained
So that's it for this season.
Mapping of the Type R is booked for the 10th with Duncan, the same day as Tim pulls the engine on the Drag car

got a heat shield for the s206 now, its not fitted 100% how it should be as you can see how wide it is (must be for a truck fitment) but its better than nothing.

Spent a day on the cars today getting ready for Wednesday when Tim comes to remove the engine on the drag car and Duncan comes to map the Type R. Got most stuff out of the way for engine removing, sorted an exhaust leak on the Type R and swapped the wheels over for road tyres.

Busy day , not long back from Zen. Started with Tim this morning taking the engine out of the drag car. No real issues apart from finding the HKS headers were well past their sell by date with many cracks (I suspected as much after seeing flames around that area last time on the dyno)

Then once Tim had taken the engine away Duncan soon followed to start work on the Type R. Got a base map sorted and then it was off to Zen for full mapping on the rollers. Once all wiring for air temp etc. was sorted first run at actuator pressure and no real timing gave us circa 350 bhp !
Then it was time for boost and timing and 1.9 bar gave us a nice 486/427
One last run with proper boost @ 2.1 bar yielded a superb result of 508/441 !!!
This was all on a 20% meth mix.
On the drive home it was near freezing so did not want to push it too much, obvious question is how does it spool on the road. I have no boost gauge at the moment now I have disconnected the AVC-r but good spool from 3k, 3.5k feels like something is about to happen, 4k hang on tight
Couple of thank you messages -
Martyn @ Enginetuner for the turbo
Duncan for mapping a finding a figure starting with a 5
Paul @ Zen as always for use of his rollers and helping hand today.

Nice result Clive and friends.
The cutback turbine wheel fitted to yours will be partly to blame for the difference in spool, it was after all designed for a 2.5 engine and as we all know it is perfectly normal for a larger turbo to spool later.
There are developments afoot to redress the balance and get even the cutback wheeled versions spooling faster and generating more power for the same boost
Thanks for being the guineau pig and testing it for me. It will be interesting to see the difference in the 1/4 mile times.

Martyn,
We were genuinely supprised by the spool given the size of the turbo (dyno was 3rd gear), on the road it is impressive. The question I still need to answer is the lag between changes. The weather last night on the way back from Zen did not allow me to test so I will give it a blast at the weekend and report back.
Think this proves a standard postion turbo can compete with the smaller rotated set ups, iirc Banny's GT30 ran 522bhp with the same mix of meth on a 2.0 but on Dyno Dynamics rollers, we must remember Pauls are more conserative

Clive,
Headers seem to last no time at all at that sort of power level?
Is your 2litre forged? Bannys isnt so it wasnt pushed to what it could have rub had it been forged

I have done two sets of Gruppe S and now a HKS set in 2 years on the drag car !
Type R has rods and pistons and standard STI 4 heads, it was a bit tounge in cheek comparing to Bannys as I knew he reads this thread
Still point about it doing over 500 on Pauls rollers counts, reckon maybe 530 on DD. Clive
