So would i
Thats what i've gone for
Thanks for the explantion Simon.Race fuels confusesme.com

no.. but I have played with similar, lots on one particular car.
the beauty of the sunoco 109 is that it mixes with vpower nicely so tranferring between fuels is easy and hassle free.. you have a 1/4 tank of 109 left you fill with vpowqer and just switch to 10% meth / e85 equivalent etc and it is safe to use without hassle.
Or even when you drain the tank there is always a little left.
The 109 gets to MBT on a subaru engine (unless there is a restriction / issue somewhere), and it is oxygenated by 4.5%.
The Maxnos is not oxygenated and the 119ron over 109ron will gain nothing as you will see mbt on 109. So for the extra hassle of working with lead and the lack of oxygen content and the non-mixing of fuels and pointless extra 10ron.
The only gain is you can run it leaner and nearer most power producing AFR, but that is not going to overcome imho the lack of oxygen.
just expressing my opinion.

I know Martin has used this stuff with good results, but I am not going to argue with Simon as I really have no tech knowledge in this area.
This will be a trial for me, I don't need to mix or change between fuels on this car as you will all know as it's just a competion car now. If it does not work then so be it, 109 didn't compared to the meth mix.
Just want to make sure we have the optimum for TOTB tbh, there are some fast EVOs to beat !

Baly has been hard at work porting my new phase 1 reversed inlet, though I may as well reverse it as I am taking the old one off, many thanks to Baly as he has put hours of work in to this.
As you will see the runners have had lots of work, the plenum has had all edges etc smoothed, photo does not do it justice tbh.
The final shot is back to back with a standard phase 1 manifold.
Roll on the 20th now when I will be with Paul for mapping, just got to get it fitted this weekend.

Grabbed a couple of hours on the car tonight so started pulling things apart to get the standard inlet off. Also noticed the phase 1 item has had all the lugs removed in the past so needed to sort out relocating the header tank. No idea where the coil pack is going to sit yet ! Will work something out.

Not sure abouts 9's Clive tbh, need more power and less weight to get there I think but deffo a very low 10 in there. Hoping the new mani and fuel with a dash of Zen magic will eek the power up a little.
Yeah, that was the mega hot day there a few weeks back. I suspect ECU was pulling timing at top end thus reducing my terminals even though I did not need to change to 5th on the new box.

Good luck with it and yep some good stuff from Zen Paul too

Further update, Daz came over to help me today with the reversed inlet fitting. Good job too as there were a good few problems to overcome. Thanks mate especially given you were not feeling 100%
First we got the standard item off, took a pick of the inlet on one head to show the head porting work on the car. Very neat I am sure you will agree. Then swapped the rails for phase 1 fuel rails from another inlet I had. Got the new manifold on and found the throttle body would not fit without relocating the power steering res. So we cobbled together the start of this but need a remote tank now.
Also modified a bracket for the throttle cable and cut intercooler pipework to fit. Made the bracket for the tensioner, i had already modified the alternator bracket to allow the flip. Final job of the day was to pop out and get a belt to fit the new set up and some hoses for the moved header tank etc.
All in all a very long and hot day. Few things to finish but nearly there Thanks again to Daz

Only got as far as the last picture Steve
Need a few bits to finish, power steering tank of some sort and find somewhere to fit the coil pack etc.
Doubt spool will be any different but that matters not to me, hoping the ported inlet will has a positive effect on top end power. Will find out when Paul maps in a couple of weeks.

Was glad to help mate.
I wish you'd have told me you were gonna take a picture of my hands I'd of had a manicure
Sorry I was feeling groggy but I just cant seem to shake this bug off and the heat today certainly didn't help.
Pleased we managed to get all the tricky stuff completed today though.
DONT forget those two inner manifold bolts!!!!
Good luck on the dyno.

what size throttle body are you using clive ?
coz what i found on mine was when trying to put more than 610 through the standard throttle body it seemed to not be able to consume it, i put this down to throttle body just because it seemed to me to be the smallest cross sectional area, however it could of been my inlet manifold or just the engine was unable to consume that vast amount of air.
this is why i ran mine at only 1.55bar @ 605hp, because it was the best power curve we could get with my setup
good luck with your mapping

Looking good and coming on well, fair play to Daz for helping out although he wasnt feeling a 100%.
Just looking at some of the IC pipework joints, am hoping they have either been swaged or beaded with weld where they have been cut? (if any have been cut) after all you dont want any of the pipes blowing off at 2.2 bar.

That was a slightly different fuel back then, that was Supreme NOS, this is MAX NOS. Supreme NOS was oxygenated as well as being very high octane.
These kind of fuels are okay for drag racing, but I think it would be prudent to have seperate drag map to get the best out of it, running leaner than I would for a top speed/road car.
I still think that adding a good dose of methanol will make it a worthwhile exercise, and at this level, £150 isn't a lot of money to spend to try and get 10-20hp more.

Got a little more sorted tonight. Mounted the coil pack and popped some new racing 8's in as they have not been changed in 2 years. I also picked up a power steering reservoir from an old Megane for £6

Seems Simon has set a new bar for a 35R, no way my car will make those heady numbers as I have not got vernier cam wheels to optimise my set up. That will be next year now, however I am not chasing numbers I just want to make sure I have done everything for I can for TOTB. The team is going to need every 1/10th second we can find.

The Twin scroll header set up!
I'm glad you are doing your best for the team.
This year will def need team effort to gain the points for any awards as its going to be a difficult one!
