Infinity 605cs or not??

yep john, looks like i'm wrong on the screw count..ooh-err.
I suggested a passive filter as a good way of getting rid of those potentially harmful low notes (to that type of speaker). I've used them in many different cars without any problems.
I agree that electronic filtering is better and the steeper the slope the better. I see you quoted the manufacturer's published frequency range figures. I also agree that whether they say their speakers will go done to 34hz or 54hz doesn't make a blind bit of difference when using active filtering since they shouldn't come in any lower than 100hz but even that is within the boomy bass zone. I reckon both sets of speakers will roll off b4 getting anywhere near the the quoted figures.
Just my opinion you understand.
In answer to your question, yes I do prefer the Alpines over the Infinitys. I think they have a smoother sound right across the frequency range and they're good value too. Sound quality can vary considerably depending on the source and installation, as i'm sure you're very much aware.
