Question

Asked this one on IWOC and got a few useful comments, can anyone on here add anything?

I'm looking at replacing the speakers in my MY99. I want components in the front and something to complement them in the rear with everything fitting in the standard apertures (is no cutting work). So far I have looked at the following:

Alpine SPR-175A front and SPS-1729 rear.
Infinity 605cs front and ??? rear.

So the questions.....
1) Has anybody got comments on either of these two systems (I know many are using the Infinity 605cs)
2) The Infinitys will drop straight in - will the Alpines? If not, what thickness spacer ring is required?
3) What are a good match for the Infinitys to put in the rear?
4) Any further advice/comments?

Hi Graeme,

I saw your post on IWOC and was going to direct you this way

I personally dislike Alpine speakers as they were, from my previous auditions, far too bright.

I wouldn't bother with rear speakers initially, as you won't hear them that much...

Nick.

I've pretty much decided to go with the Infinity 605cs for the front and narrowed the rear down to a choice of two. Either Infinity 62.1 or 652.1
Are these a good choice? The 652.1 are stated as being a 165mm speaker and I was under the inpression that the standard rears are 16cm - will they still fit?

Chiark - The rears need doing as an overfull boot has managed to bend the cages and rupture the cones
