So Brexit seems to be a good thing then.

Look at what happened in Greece in 2015. They allow the referendum to go ahead, but the result didn't go the way they wanted, so they pick it to pieces on technicalities and essentially claim it be illegal. Greece remains crippled econimically and trapped in the Euro/Eurozone.
Oh, the irony!
For the record I have no bias on which way this vote pans out (if it even goes ahead), but clearly there is a strong desire for citizens to have this vote, so I believe it should go ahead, and the result should be respected whatever the outcome.

The sign said that we give the EU £350 million a week. That's not a lie no matter how you spin it. Whether they give it back, or we withold part of it, we are commited to that spend.
It also SUGGESTED we spend it better.
THAT resounded with a whole load of voters...and why not?
Why give it to ex-communist states that hated us forty years ago, when we could spend it on our NHS, our pensioners, our service men and women???

it is a mental illness
"LETS GIVE THE NHS THE 350 MILLION WE SEND THE EU EVERY WEEK"
it did not suggest "why don't we" - it said - and I repeat
"LETS GIVE THE NHS THE 350 MILLION WE SEND THE EU EVERY WEEK"
you wonder why people are laughing at you idiots

Oh, the most bitter remoaner on the forum makes an appearance Based on the tone and offensive nature of his comments towards those who don't share his views, probably back from smashing up some stuff at an Antifa rally or something.
You need to learn to respect democracy.

Makes you wonder how the 'losing team' in the Catalan vote will behave. I expect they'll be a lot more graceful in defeat, and won't act like spoilt children who've had their toys taken away.

Oh give over, as if the Brexit mob were going to just roll over and let it die if they lost. Nigel Farage even went on record saying that if they lost it was a job unfinished and he'd be back to try again until the result went his way.

I have no idea what part of the UK you are from, or even if English is your first language.
But back when I was at GRAMMAR SCHOOL, the expression "Let's" was a suggestion.
As in, "Let's go to cinemas".
It implied something you'd LIKE to do and was asking if others thought so too. Almost a question.
So your oft-repeated assertion that it means "We will..." is just plain wrong.
And I'm further afraid that your bitterness is leading you into peppering every post with insults. Time you argued properly and not on a personal level?

The EU want a superstate, the absolute last thing they will want, or tolerate is separatist movements. The Spanish government is clearly acting in the EU interests/demands here.
While that's going on (and probably only a matter of time until the EU stormtroopers kill someone), more people are killed by having their throats slit or stabbed to death in the latest islamic terrorist attack in Europe

The Spanish government are the ones who've always opposed this. Bugger all to do with the EU.

They're all about a superstate, centralised government. It absolutely goes against what they're about. They'll be demanding the Spanish government stop this vote at all costs.
I guess you just blindly agree with everything the EU does and says, and you will not accept any criticism of the EU.
If this was occupied France in the early 40's you'd be all for continued occupation "we're stronger together" etc. You'd probably be reporting any resistance members to the ****'s.

Do you actually have any evidence of EU interference in this vote? Or you just making it up in a hope that it's true?

So do you think a separatist movement is in the EU's interests? It's totally against the ideal's of the project!! Of course they'll have influence on the actions of Spanish government! Are they going to do that publicly?! Obviously not!!!
You're clearly not stupid, but think!!!!

The Spanish government are vehemently opposed to and independent Catalonia, they don't need the EU to tell them anything.
So right back at you; do you really think things through, or just spout it if it fits with your neo-con view of the world?

Again stop telling me what I think and provide something that supports your claim.

Hardly a surprise that these heavy handed tactics have led to a surge in the predicted 'leave' vote;
We noted yesterday that "if Catalonia secedes from Spain...in terms of the debt sustainability parameters laid down by the Treaty of Maastricht, it’d be the Eurozone debt crisis 2.0..." and it is clear by the thuggish brutality of Spain's police that Rajoy will do anything to ensure this vote does not go ahead as the latest poll data shows a massive surge in favor of independence, as government fascism has clearly triggered unintended consequences

So as per usual you avoid answering the question! Well I've already answered it for you - of course the EU won't allow this to go ahead. Juncker has already said he considers the vote 'illegal' (obviously he would), and has warned against "separatist adventures".
Hardly a surprise that these heavy handed tactics have led to a surge in the predicted 'leave' vote;

The Catalan vote is different as this throws up a whole host of issues for the EU. Other than it being totally against their ideals, it also raises the question of debt. Even if the Catalan region agreed to take on an equal cut of Spain's debt, based on GDP per capita, that would leave Spain struggling to pay their share, as they lose their most productive region. This would raise bond yields for Spanish debt, increase chances of default - you've got another European debt crisis on your hands before you know it. If they played hard ball and refused to take a cut of Spain's debt then you've got even worse problems.
This would also likely lead to other separatist movements gathering speed - Basque region (another productive area and 2.5m people), Flanders region etc. Again it goes against the EU ideals - they'll want these outbreaks of democracy crushing, but they'll want the host countries government to be the driver in this to protect face for the EU.
What are your views on the Catalan vote, do you believe they should have the chance for a democratic vote for independence?
