The fact that nearly all EU/Japanese Car Manufacturing is in Britain.... Winner Winner Chicken Dinner for the EU - does not affect them one Iota (the cynical may even see it a bonus to further **** over the UK for having the temerity to leave)
Swindon has been operating at 50% capacity for ages - it only a matter of time - the new tariff deal sealed the deal - KAPOW.... HEADSHOT.....
Really wouldn't surprise me if Nissan followed suit.
You are aware that the EU/Japan trade deal had to be approved by the UK as we are still a member of the EU?
Part of the whole Brexit problem is this notion that we are somehow separate from the EU and the EU forces things on us and we have no input!
The EU/Japan trade deal negotiations started years before Brexit. The UK was active in negotiations throughout the whole deal and the UKs interests were taken into account throughout the whole negotiation.

It seems you are also blissfully unaware that Nissan manufactures at two factories in Spain and only one factory in UK. Toyota also manufactures in Belgium, France, Poland and the Czech Republic in addition to the UK. So there goes your argument that the EU has nothing to lose and they are stitching up the UK!

As I understand it the EU 0% TARIFF deals is not immediate and will take years to implement. In that time car manufacturing could take an even further nose dive from the situation it finds itself in. You could blame VW for the problems it caused and how other manufacturers are feeling the heat, especially as they became more diesel reliant.

As was stated already, Honda have been on 50% capacity for ages, extended holidays etc etc making a closure increasingly likely. The conspiracy theorists will see a conspiracy were there is not one, it is their way.

Yes, let's grab this chance at self-determination and be an independent country like Switzerland who a year ago had to implement the very same chunk of new EU financial regulations (called MiFiD II and drafted by us here in Britain) in order to continue doing financial services business with the EU.

Brexiteers just live a world devoid of reality.

The EU fcuked us over? You mean the EU made a trade deal that was mutually beneficial to the Japanese and all EU members, and the Leavers are bitching about it because it highlights what a dumb move leaving a huge trading bloc was that allows us to negotiate trade deals from a position strength?

The Far East car makers have plants in mainland Europe too, so it's hardly the EU ******* anyone over!

Honda said their decision was based on global restructuring to meet the new demands of electric vehicles being their primary focus now.

It is always a risk when countries offer incentives to foreign companies for them to pull out when company financials take a dive. Honda haven't being doing well for a while. The offer of supply cars to Europe free of tariff was an ideal chance to cut and run from loss making plants.

meanwhile back in reality a Honda spokesman said;

"We still continue to see challenges in the future relating to Brexit. As we have previously mentioned, our desired outcome is frictionless trade between the UK and the EU, access to the right talent and regulatory alignment."

fvck me the same flat earther denialist tossers spinning the same laughable nonsense

I have to commend the "usual suspects" (you know who you are) in debunking their ****ing nonsense

honestly give up, we went thru all this in the pre referendum threads - their utter bollox is being debunked by observable measurable reality, you really don't have to waste time on these catastrophic losers

we have just learnt that Fox's et al claim of "trade deals being rolled over" is not going to happen - I mean what fvcking idiot ever thought they were (err Brexidiots that's who!!!!)

anyway one bright cloud is that Alan Partridge is back - at the behest of Brexit voting idiots - to represent them, in all their stunning ignorance

you do wonder when they realise they are being laughed at

Conservative and Labour MPs splitting and forming a centrist group.
Labour now supporting a second referendum.
May offering a vote against No Deal and extending article 50.

The gammons all seem quiet lately, perhaps their heads have exploded with the anger!

Politics sucks sometimes doesn't it! Tough luck idealist hardline Brexiteers! You lost because you're a minority!

So the Conservatives have f*8ked it up. Teresa is looking more and more like a Spitting Image puppet.
Parliament cannot organise a pi** up in a brewery.
Labour can't catch a tennis ball with a bed sheet.
Corbyn is a left wing, turn coat, anti-British, covert communist, way off line with the British public.
The views of the British voters count for nothing, even if you voted in or out.
The other opposition parties can't organise a cup of tea for sh*t.
The Stock Exchange is doing very well.
Unemployment is at it's lowest for years.
The current trade with our top 15 export markets are apparently going to stop overnight.
Our nearest neighbour,Eire, is not going to suffer any economic issues, they forgot who helped them a few years ago.

Here are our biggest markets.
  1. United States: US$64.4 billion (13.3% of total UK exports)
  2. Germany: $47 billion (9.7%)
  3. Netherlands: $33.3 billion (6.9%)
  4. France: $31.8 billion (6.6%)
  5. Ireland: $28.3 billion (5.9%)
  6. China: $27.5 billion (5.7%)
  7. Switzerland: $25.4 billion (5.2%)
  8. Belgium: $19.1 billion (4%)
  9. Italy: $14.1 billion (2.9%)
  10. Spain: $13.9 billion (2.9%)
  11. Hong Kong: $10.3 billion (2.1%)
  12. United Arab Emirates: $10 billion (2.1%)
  13. Turkey: $9.5 billion (2%)
  14. Japan: $8.3 billion (1.7%)
  15. South Korea: $7.8 billion (1.6%)
And I have not even mentioned the war

And I have not even mentioned the war

Let me re-adjust that list for you to reflect the reality of the single market (only considering the top 15 and I didn't check your figures!)....
  1. EU state in the top 15 export list = US$187.5 billion (38.9% of UK exports)
  2. United States: $64.4 billion (13.3%)
  3. China: $27.5 billion (5.7%)
  4. Switzerland: $25.4 billion (5.2%)
  5. Hong Kong: $10.3 billion (2.1%)
  6. United Arab Emirates: $10 billion (2.1%)
  7. Turkey: $9.5 billion (2%)
  8. Japan: $8.3 billion (1.7%)
  9. South Korea: $7.8 billion (1.6%)
I found your list ...The remaining EU countries not in the top 15 also account for nearly $36 billion which would actually put them in 3rd place in the list and abut 7.4% of UK exports.

Tell me again how leaving the EU on WTO terms is a good idea? Actually, tell me again why leaving the EU is a good idea?

Also, for the complete picture, one should also consider imports

Project Fear!!!!

We're taking back control and going to do the best ever trade deals because we won the war!

£33Million paid out in settlement to Eurotunnel because Failing Grayling forgot there is a train that goes under the channel!
We could have spent that money on the NHS!

Interesting all the gammons have gone very quiet lately! Have they all been banned or are they busy saving up so they can go on Farage's march?
