Re "Honesty" in politics. I keep hearing that Corbyn's supporters think he's honest and open in all things. Not possible for any politician. Just belonging to the Privy Council rules that out. Any attendance at those meetings means that information is being passed to you which is confidential. Hence the word "Privy"
Therefore you can't talk about it, or if you're forced into making a statement on the basis that you're expected to say something, you either have to tell the truth, which will cause ructions politically, or tell lies about the matter, or at least be economical with the truth. Where's your honesty now? and you've only just started!
We have to accept that there are issues that can't be discussed with all and sundry, and just let them get on with the business of being political. In other words, dishonest.
