I'm sure he lost a lot of his supporters today.

Maybe, but I doubt the British people are going to vote for someone who won't even sing their national anthem.

This kind of stuff will destroy him

Yes, my missus said the same regards meeting the Queen, I'm not sure how it would play out.

Jezz was certainly in a no-win situation there. Damned if he does sing, damned if he doesn't. Maybe he should have sung the Red Flag?

I think what a few of you are struggling with is the concept of an honest politician. Some others may think like him, but will do what will make them popular rather than what they believe. Just look at Cameron's behaviour over the refugee crisis for a prime example of this! In fact just look at Cameron's behaviour over just about anything!

Pretty sure I'm not struggling with the concept.

I'm looking forward to seeing what he'll do. Any bets anyone?

Don't see why, it just proves he's a bit of a prat. As an adult he should understand that for everything there is a time and a place. A memorial service is neither the time nor the place for making a statement about the monarchy.

See my point above about times/places. The way I see it he only really had one option and anyone that condemned him as a hypocrite for singing the anthem would invariably have found something to criticise him for anyway.

We'll have to wait and see how it plays out. I have to confess, the more I think about the likes of the oath, the stranger I find it that Corbyn can go through the process of joining the PC. It would certainly not seem cogent and perhaps hypocritical.

This was always going to be a problem for somebody who sat on the backbenches for decades saying what he likes. He'll soon find out that he can't say what he likes as party leader. Pragmatism is creeping up on him like the grim reaper, and it'll be the death of him as a "breath of fresh air".

I don't think a memorial service for the Battle of Britain heroes is the time or place to glorify the Queen. Maybe it's time to change the anthem. As it is, it just bigs up the Queen, and makes no mention of this country, or it's people. It's sycophantic rubbish. There was a surviving veteran, Harry Smith at the service who had absolutely no problem with Corbyn not singing. He had this to say:

"I AM NOT offended by Jeremy Corbyn not singing the national anthem.

We have to remember why we commemorate our victory in World War II.

It’s because of the *sacrifices of our men and women in battle and on the home front which preserved our democracy.

Democracy is about freedom of conscience.

People didn’t go to war against Hitler for love of, to my mind, a very outdated and divisive national anthem that is more a hymn to monarchy than our national character.

When King George V died in 1936 I, along with every other kid in our neighbourhood , ran through the streets, shouting: “God Save the King, send him to heaven in a corned beef tin” to the tune of the national anthem.

So it’s hard for me to see how anyone from my generation, unless they’re very well-to-do, would take any offence in the anthem not being sung.

Perhaps we need to talk about a new anthem for Britain which reflects our modern values."

I said it before a few years ago on another thread

Not only is crap on pretty much every social level - it is crap musically

It is about the worst national anthem I ever heard

Change it to Jerusalem

All fair comments, although nobody said he should be tied to a tree because of his choice. If Corbyn is going to represent anybody he has to put up with people having an opinion because of that, the same as if he chose a wear a pink Mohican haircut.

No you weren't joking, you were being a stupid blind patriot as usual.

A few months ago someone asked me who to take a Subaru engine job too and mentioned you. I told them you were probably great at your job, but as politically you were an utter **** to take it somewhere else. Hopefully they did!

In fact I think I will stick that in my signature

Ok, let's break this down a bit. You assumed that when I said the Argentines should also take over Cornwall I was being serious?

If someone asked you where to to take their Subaru for work I'd have hoped that you'd give a straight answer based on engineering principles. And you think I'm stupid and blind?

One other thing, disguising dirty words is schoolboy puerile, please stop doing that.

Politically I'm inclined to support my village, my town, my city, my county, my region, my country. I've no idea what country you support.

Getting back on track with this thread, Jeremy Corbyn is going to go down like the other JC. That's Julius Caesar. Let's see who Brute is amongst the Labour ranks!

Question Time was interesting last night

John McDonnell was on the panel

I was expecting a firebrand spouting ranting loony - according to the press reports

but in my mind, whatever your political leanings (I had not really heard of him or knew much about him) and purely on presentation (there was not mush substance tbh)

I thought he gave a pretty measured performance - and showed the Tory panellist to be, well the best I could say, was weak, hysterical, ineffectual and out of touch

I suspect quite a few Labour MP's thought the same too

If it weren't for the positive discrimination around women these days I doubt Elizabeth Truss would get anywhere near a microphone.

As for the Labour Party, the militancy that is always simmering at the very least will always occasionally result in behaviour or actions that suit the Party rather than the Electorate. I expect there are many that admire the I.R.A. even now for 'sticking it' to the establishment.

I'm sure they'll agree that sticking it to 3 year old Johnathan Ball and 12 year old Tim Parry was the IRA's finest hour? Oh, sorry I forgot Omagh when the heavily pregnant lady (with twins) had it stuck to her as well.
Militants? can't live with them.

No I didn't you dumb ****. I assumed that by the stupid half-witted remark about Cornwall you were indicating you disagreed with giving the Malvinas back to their rightful rulers and that you see the whole notion of such as being ridiculous hence the pathetic comment about Cornwall. To anyone other than a certain moronic section of the British population the Malvinas should belong to Argentina!

I haven't wasted my time reading the rest of your reply as it will no doubt be more drivel.

6.83 in expences to visit a war memorial day cost our local lib/dem his seat, in fact a local nurse gave him a envelope with a note and the money back

Fascinating. You can hear the steam coming out of his ears can't you?.
It must be the lack of a vocabulary that leads him to poorly disguised bad language. Not to mention a singular lack of political awareness or common sense.
He certainly hates the UK doesn't he? Seriously my friend, leave it out, in fact, just leave.
