Question

As the title says.

I've seen the kits and they look pretty but what's the word on these?

They do kits for std 16 inch wheels with seperate bell and discs, prices seem keen too....

Exclamation

Only one question that comes to mind about Willwood brakes is that they don't have dust seals around the piston which in my mind is after a while they will start to sieze up?

Hi-Spec brakes have dust seals on their calipers and they do some cheap kit as well.

And they also do a four pot caliper with a hand brake lever

I agree with Joseph on this one - no dust seals - no survival past the end of the next winter! Think wisely B4 buying

What's happening next winter? My local council are certainly not dosing the roads in corrosive acid. Can the so-called brake experts amplify on exactly what will corrode the grade of ali and stainless that Wilwood use?

As an aside I spoke at length to a technically minded guy on the AP stand at Autosport who acknowledged that rubber seals are not necessary on modern calipers (confirmed by many others in the industry BTW).

I suggest tekkies from the major brake players enlighten us. Anyone on the BBS work for AP, Brembo, Alcon, Godspeed, KAD, Movit, Wilwood, HiSpec, Tarrox, Pagid or others who can give us brake expert rather that owner opinion?

JJ, I'm no expert but what you are saying fails to explain why AP-Racing, Brembo and Alcon all fit dust seals and protective coatings to their calipers for road use. AP Racing also state that race calipers should not be used on the road. How much more evidence do you want? Maybe they're being over-cautious but is the saving against cheaper brands worth it?

Richard.
