Question Front brake noise

Hi i have classic impreza with 4 pods calipers up front, on the front passenger side is making a slight clonking noise when braking, but only when nearly stopped no other time. Sounds like the disc is moving slightly, or play from something, tried tightening wheel up abit but nothing, any ideas?

Sounds like slight play (up and down) in the pads. What pads are they?

Check the anti rattle clip, both pad pins and their securing spring clip are present and that the discs and pads (inside surface and outside) are wearing evenly and not worn out.

From your picture,it looks like the pad shims are fitted wrong,i can see the tangs of both shims, you get a pure metal one and one with slots in it,the tangs should not meet up like yours do

Ok thanks will take them of put them the right way, although the noise doesn't seem like shims, its more of a clunking noise as if the caliper or disk has play in it, only happens when your nearly fullly stopped.

I have this exact same problem, sounds like metal clicking / clunking noise... did you ever find a solution? It is getting worse and worse on mine, like you say only way pulling up or even pulling away but nothing at speed above say 10-15mph

No lad still not found out what is was, got new exhaust so can't here it as much now but its still there, just sounds like the caliper or disc is loose but there both tight, had same noise on my last car, but only standard after i replaced the clutch weird enough.
