Default Dunlop tyres any good?

I've been running Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 tyres on wifes WRX after T1-R's & like them a lot.

My cars tyres need replacing & at present they are yoko A048's which are OEM but don't last & don't like standing water so was looking for something different.
I have been looking to get some F1 Asymetrics for my car but they don't do the right size, I thought I might go to GS-D3 but Goodyear technical said they are phasing them out & I should look at Dunlop SP Sport 01 instead.
The Dunlops look like Asymetric pattern & I was wondering if they were an equivalent to the Eagle F1 Asymetric?

Main problem seems to be getting the front tyre size of 195/50R16.

why are you using that size tyre?seems very narrow for a 16" wheel,i used to use 205/45/16 when i had 16" wheels, just stiff enough sidewall without being to crashy.I used yoko parada spec 2,but as you say great in the dry,but rubbish in the wet.Look at the mytres website, they do a great range as cheap as anywhere with a tyre review facility, so you know if the tyre you choose is any good..

I have Dunlop SP SPORT MAXX on my MKV R32 as standard figment and think they are CR@P. They were the top rated tyre in a test by a highly regarded magazine 12months ago but honestly they are rubbish. Stick with Goodyear, they have produced some excellent tyres over the last few years. I still think the F1 GS-D3's are fantastic and the only negative is their slightly soft tyrewall.

Mytyres have them in-stock in your stated fitment.

Road legal slicks are NOTHING like production tyres.... Dunlops DZ02G will last longer than R888's or A048's or try Silverstone tyres they do a medium compound tyre similar to the R888/AO48. Camskill are a good place to look !

The car is a Lotus Exige & the strange tyre size of 195/50 R16 is the main killer when it comes to tyres.
DZ02G don't seem to do my sizes.

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 look like the way I will go as I have been informed that the only similarity between the dunlop & goodyear is the colour & shape.

So, they don't sell Dunlops then. My missus has some on her Forester. Very nice tyres- Quiet, hard-wearing and safe in the wet. Not performance orientated though, but as good as the equivalent michelin.

I don't think Dunlop are that bad it just depends on whether they are as good as the Goodyears as far as performance.
