Question

My insurers want an extra £30 if I fit EBC GreenStuff pads to my MY99 standard 4 pots
Is this normal...or don't people bother telling their insurers about brake pad upgrades ?

Thats what I thought RON.

I sent a long email to BellDirect's Senior Technical bod asking about the millions of people on the UK roads with none 'original' parts which they have not declared, such as:
- brake pads fitted at Halfords or local garages
- tyres e.g how many stay with the original tyre make!
- wiper blades and bulbs.
- wax on the car !!!!!

From what they are implying, there are millions of cars on UK roads with invalid insurance !!!!!

Bl00dy insurance companies

Can you give any indication who your insurers may be?

You should pay a lower insurance rate if you upgrade your brakes. Better brakes means better stopping which could mean more chance of avoiding an accident (how many accidents are the result of a 1 metre too long brake distance)!

I used to have a Impreza turbo which i smashed to pieces with loads of undeclared mods, Big wheels, Full(decatted system, EBC turbo pads, Discs, Airfilter.. I was with Direct line.. They asked me if it was modded.. I said no and they paided out in full(even for the mods) sorted!!

Don't u just love em!! I must admit i had a few sleepless nights until that cheque came.
