EBC Greenstuff/Redstuff

After my 2nd track day my EBC Greenstuff pads are nearly done so what I was going to do was get a set of redstuff pads and fit them for track days . As I'm using standard discs will they be damaged by the harder pads ? Is there a contact no. for EBC to get advice ?

i have run both Reds and Greens with standard discs.the Reds are so much better and all EBC pads claim low disc damage,this seems the case.could not get Reds for last track day so had to run Greens,pedal soft after 4 laps and had to brake approx. 20ish meters earlier than with the Reds.

Green Stuff should NEVER be used on a track, EBC say so themselves. Use Greens on the road, and Red or Yellow on track.
All EBC pads offer minimal disc damage, which is why they're not as good as the more race-bred pads like PFC, Mintex or Pagid.

Thanks Stef. Was thinking of doing my first trackday later in the year, and I've just had greenstuff fitted. Think I'll get a set of redstuff for the track.

it was as a last resort that i ran Greens,as the EBC dealer i use could not get me Reds or Yellows in time and actually gave me the Greens for free,as i had ordered them two weeks ago.
you are absolutely correct they should not be used on track and i can see why.i find the biggest problem wear rate as both sets are very low after about 30/40 laps of K/hill which is why i'm trying to get Yellows next,still as long as it's pads i'm replacing at the end of track days and not body panels i'm happy.

I've got Greens on my scoob and after 10 miles or so of spirited driving I braked down from high speed and the pedal pressure was constant but the stopping power just disappeared.
Any ideas?

Come on EBC give us a pad that is a cross between a Green and Red in performance !!

I have Greens on a MY00. I think it's pad type 1200 (or Scoobyshop Type C). Oddly enough, I'm sure they were around 75 quid in Scoobyshop but now they seem to have gone up to 91 quid (i.e. only 4 quid cheaper than Red Stuff).

Has anyone else noted that in the latest 2001 DemonTweeks catalogue they are recommending EBC Red's as standard fit for the Impreza?

I have not used Red Stuff, but in the bumph that came with the Greens it showed that although the Reds worked over a larger temperature range (I think it still starts from zero, so they should work from cold) they have a lower coeffecient of friction. Has anyone actually tried them in comparison to the Greens -- do they stop as well?

Another question on reds. What's the recommended wearing in schedule. I'm looking at getting a set for a track day in May and so need to know if I need to start wearing them in NOW, and not just a few days before I get on track.

I've been using Reds on my heavier Legacy Turbo. Have given them some fairly serious abuse and they just do not fade after numerous stops from over 110mph. Problems I'm having are severe increase in brake dust and pedal judder after hard abuse - sometimes quite bad. Is this normal anyone.

I have always been under the impression that the green's were better for everyday driving (certainly based on what I have read on this board over the past few months) that's why I was surprised to see some catalogues recommending the red's for the road.

I was on the phone today to EBC ( thanks to scoop for the no ) . You should NEVER use greens for track days . Recent tests they have carried out have shown that reds work from cold and have the same friction coefficient as greens . Reds are the recommended pad for all faster scoobys . They are now revising their sales literature to this effect .

I believe that officially at least 1155 compound is for track use only, but they are pretty good. Can be a squealy though like most Mintex pads (IMHO)
