Default seize the day....

After making a super group buy from camsport of ebc discs and redstuff pads...front and rears.
Discovered today front drivers side caliper has a seized piston. tried pushing brake pedal with pads removed but sadly to no avail....


two pot piston type..on a 95/96 jap import wrx... any ideas..on reconditioned..??how much..??? or how easy would it be to upgrade to 4 pot caliper...again..where would i get from...approx price...???
aint got a vice and not sure whether i could refit a seal using kit...???

Not sure how much to recon you calipers, but4 pots go for around 300-350 quid there has been a few set sold on here recently including mine.

ouch perhaps I'll leave the 4 pot idea..just paid out for disks an stuff.....
got couple of phone numbers to ring tomoz...was just hoping for couple of links..advice.....no probs...

4 pots run different discs m8 so to save ya loot you can get repair kits from Subaru or the factors for your calipers,i paid no more than 25 squid for a kit that did both 4 pots so not gonna brake ya
Try getting a clamp and wind ya piston back ? then try pushing it out ?

not something i've done before.......gulp..hahaha.....but ya make it sound quite straightforward....if ya could post a bit more info...a HOW to guide..???? no worries or pressure though bud...these things take time to think through..

will make the calls tomoz may go secondhand then could play around with dodgy caliper...will be all good practise .........

Had this on my 4 pots - ended up removing the pads and clamping 3 of the pistons with 6 inch Record G clamps and then jumping (virtually...) on the brake pedal. Took a fair bit of effort but it did free itself up. I did replace the seals on the pistons last year but the car has sat all winter in the garage.

cheers guys for the replies...
contacted grade a subaru breakers.....on monday...caliper arrived today...20..mins ater caliper on..brakes bled...
don't ya love it when a plan comes together...??? thankfully all bts etc.already loosened due to re-fit..

urrrm..now do I re-do seals..???? could be fun...hahhahaaaahaaa
