Question

Read a lot and fully understand small variations and individual preferences in tyre pressure choice. I was given 32psi all round for normal road and 34psi all round for very fast road driving (and track) as generally good values.

Any comments? I do NOT want to sacrifice ride comfort if possible (LEDA B installed) and am NOT doing track days.

Thanks for all the help.

Know what you mean we should start a 40's section!!

I have SO2's on 16" wheels, standard STi II suspension set up with 1.3 deg negative per side and 1.0 mm total toe in at front with 1.0 mm total toe in and 1.1 deg negative per side at rear. (courtesy of Micheldever tyres)

I have found it best to maintain higher front pressures compared with the rear as this provides for better turn in and a "feeling" of slight oversteer on power (neutral on light throttle)

So for day to day use I use 2.4 bar front and 2.3 bar rear. If I venture onto the track then I use 2.6 bar all round to stiffen the sidewalls and reduce "roll" onto the sidewalls. 17 inch tyres will not suffer from so much side wall flex as 16" so you ought to be able to run slightly softer say 2.3bar front and 2.2 rear dependant on your suspension setup. Oversteer not with withstanding I've always tried to balance front to rear dependant on weight distribution and most cars are front heavy.

To date I've covered just over 10,000 miles and during that period I've rotated front to rear once (not literally). Tread has worn down to approx 4.8 mm from 8.0 mm so I predict about 18000. Oh I did one track day on then at Castle Combe.

Opinion ... superb tyre in the wet and the dry ... the softer sidewalls in the 16" size makes for a different feel to the tyre and I suspect that this is what so many people have complained about. Personally I found it made no difference to the tyre's performance and, in fact, I can push the car harder on them than any other tyre save maybe the Goodyear F1.

Hope this is of use

Thumbs up

Thank you very much, Bob.

It WILL be of good use. Your experience in various departments somehow manages to achieve that.
