Question

I am just about to obtain a set of Michelin S6A slicks on 16" wheels.

Does anyone know what sort of compound or type of slick these are.

Also can anyone suggest what tyre pressure I should have for a track day as I have read anything from 26 psi to 35 psi which is quite a variation.

The important thing is the HOT pressure not the cold pressure.

I'd suggest that you're after about 30/28 psi max hot, that's what i run on Dunlops.
