Wales run today - 23rd October

All,
Thanks for a great day out. We certainly had a mixture of weather and driving conditions !
Tip for next time - If you turn off at all, wait for the guy behind and so on...so nobody gets lost.
Good to see some people i've met before and meet some new faces..Been doing this a long time i'm afraid... forgot some of your names already as i'm cr*p like that.
Nice tea shop in wherever it was!! looked like a popular place.
Surprised again at my fuel consumption..I filled up at the Shell in Sarn services. When we stopped at the last car park in Brecon, I was reading half a tank..Did the back roads back to Chepstow and then over the bridge. Got home with just slightly over quarter of a tank.. Not sure how many miles as i forgot to reset the trip but think around 270 for the whole day and maybe 200 from filling up.
Might be good to let me know what cars you were driving ?
Catalunya pete is pretty self explanitary.
Mark - Blue STI
- Black STI(that learned my lines!) sorry forgot - too much info today.
The two sport owners - that went very well.
Silver StI -
Reddish Blue - Uk 97/98
White type RA(thats what the badge said) that popped and banged a lot!
Anyone else I forgot?
Anyway, as discussed, you guys would love the Exmoor runs we do 3 or 4 times a year. The roads are slightly different in that we've just gone for pure driving roads that are 2 cars wide. This we've found, lets us press on without any hairy moments that are possible with single track stuff. Very rarely do we come across many cars but we do choice the Sunday morning outside holiday periods. Think we could be potentially looking doing the next run sometime around Xmas. We currently have a challenge with two X5 owners to join us so could be fun. Will let you guys know and post something on this forum.
Again, had a great day. Feel a bit tired now after all the dodging of bits of tree etc.
Thanks also have to go to my co-drivers - Rob and Sam. Had to suffer all my opposite side of the road bend sweepers. Slow down and catch back up moments! and everything else, as I chatted a lot!!
Thanks
Steve - P1

sorry I didnt make it guys went from work to the shell garage on fabian way to fill up with optimax for the run, pulled out the garage sort of quickly and blew the drivers side front wheel bearing to sh*t, so much for mitsi's being reliable, and thank god for the AA.
hope to see you all soon.

Just had a thought, if any of you fancy a really good night out and a bit of a xmas doo. We're arranging a chinese meal and drinking session(to get merry of course) in Chipping Sodbury. This a lovely old fashioned high st thats around half a mile long and has around 9 pubs !! some sell some decent Cider!
Anyway, one pub will do B&B for around £15, so if anyone fancies, we'd love to see you guys come across the bridge and join us.
Cheers
Steve.

Well I finally managed to make one of the meets, and it was well worth it. Had a great day chasing some quick cars. Shame the weather had been so bad over the weekend blowing all that crap down onto the roads. Look foward to the next one, think I'll bring a snorkel
P.S. thanks to Chris and Steve for the advice on fitting my Cibies, should have them on later this week.

Pete, you won't regret getting the cibies. Another tip, I wrapped the connections behind the lights in insulation to stop water penetration. never had any problems with blown bulbs in 18 months use.
Darren, Yeh, my old MY97 wagon used to use it at an alarming rate like yours but since changing to the P1 i reckon consumption is 20% better??
Cheers

Ian(sue), some fantastic roads, mostly twisty stuff especially up over the black mountains - tight but bolders on either side so precision was the order of the day but good visibility to use the road if you viewed ahead enough. Also, once up over, the view was just amazing with the road just twisting and turning down below you. Think the great thing was the weather in a way because it was empty mostly everywhere.
Might be an option rather than another Exmoor. Easy to get stated in Chepstow?
In a way it was diffrent not leading the pack! (have to say it's soo much easier following), driving on roads I didn't know, so caution was the order of the day because there were some hairy hairpins - I mean hairy!!!

Hey Bob,
Get yourself over to the Xmas Thorn Tilt thread then and tell us which date you can make for our Chinese meal. You have never been one to refuse a good meal.
Cheers.

Nils - Pity you couldn't make it. Yes I have changed the car. Took mine in for a service last week, they saw me coming and gave me a Prodrive 7 courtesy car. Never gave it back, folowing day took it to the Longleat meet. Only thing is it's too damn quiet. Have you put a new backbox on yours yet? I'm missing the burble of my Scoobysport.
Mark - Not suprised you got home in 45 mins. Couldn't catch you on section after morry hosp. Fancy doing Castle Coombe - see Nils post.
