Default Lower ball joint tips

Going to atempt to change one of these on sunday and was wondering if anyone had any tips on removing the old one? I found a post by tweenierob sometime ago detailing how to do this, but can't seem to find it while searching now! Cheers.

jack car up
wheel off
spray both bolts with wd40
undue the nut underneath
undue nut holding ball joint to hub and remove bolt completely(important)
lock wheel round
nice flat headed screwdriver with a good point and place inbetween the two halves on the hub part and give it a good few hits to open it up
either use a lever bar or ball joint splitter to remove.
if you need more room you may need to remove the 2 shocker bolts
simple job to do

Done, took about an hour, after removing the long bolt and opening the slot, I needed to put the bottom nut back on, then use a pry bar to separate the ball joint from the hub. A strong flat head screwdriver was needed as I ruined the first 2 flimsy ones I tried. Thanks again.

Default help!

Will be doing the same job on my sisters car tomorrow, BUT........ her n/s/f lower balljoint SHEARED off on the road, luckily at low speed. The wheel apparantly pushed back into the wheelarch bending the wing and nmaking it difficult to open the n/s door!! The car was recovered back to her house, but by the time I got there the "recovery man" had managed to get the car stuck on the back of the lowloader and in trying to get it off managed to pull the driveshaft out of the gearbox!
Is it just a straightforward job to put it back in or could there be other damage? Is there anything else I should check that could be damaged?

thanks in advance!

its more than likely snapped due to it been seized, split gaiter lack of grease.

just check the gaiters
seals on the gearbox when the driveshafts go.
brake pipe .
top shocker bolts
track rod end

the recovery truck more than likely done most of the damage as they only way is to drag it onto the wagon
