Good luck with this m8

The cost of fitting is dependant on what else you have done. It is generally reckoned to be worth having 4 wheels alignment and and increasing the camber settings to the max on the front. If you get this done you're probably looking at £75 - £150 inc. VAT as it is about two hours work. Other places will do it cheaper, but you generally pay for what you get.

Please post back with your thoughts once it has been done.

Duncan

Cool

Having decided that eibachs are at least worth a try (as opposed to £1000+) im getting some fitted soon to my MY01

Q1- how much should i be paying for fitting?

Q2- What differennce to ride will i notice with a 25mm drop?

Tiggs

ps- are insurance companies bothered about mods like this- im on company insurance so as long as its not a change that normal insurance would get funny about (ie- big turbo!) then my compnay car people are fine with minor mods, for example they are not fussed about ppp.

Tiggs,

I'm also up for it. Spoke to Tyres Northampton, and confirmed £235 incl VAT for full geometry check and setting the front camber to P1 settings which is a change of 0.8 degress approx. All takes about 1.5 hours.

I'm on holiday from Thursday for 2 weeks but keen to have it done when I return. After hearing Brian from Ireland, I would also like to hear another person's comments, so please post your results.

Good Luck.

Question

Kev,

The P1 is not a "new age" impreza... it's a uk sti 5 (or 6?) equivalent... Are you going to apply these settings to a MY01 car?

Talking

Moray,

Good question. I've also been speaking to TSL in Keyworth, Nottigham, (not so far to travel), and they said they would be prepared to try a few settings based on what I wanted to do with the car, i.e. Track days etc. They are however more expensive.

Gentlemen....

That Tyres Northampton deal sounds like good value for money!.

We do fit the odd set or two of Eibachs . It takes between 1.5 and 2.0 hours to fit all four springs.

We then use the 8-camera laser alignment jig to dial in basically whatever you wish.. Obviously there are limits!!!. This takes @1.5 hours further... Different car after though!

Cheers

I'm using less negative camber and toe in than on the pre 01 cars, basically using the extra rigidity of the chassis.

Pete

As usual, I have to bow to your greater experience and knowledge.

What camber and toe in are you using? How much is this affected by the Ledas and their stiffer qualities (very good etc., but decreases the need for controlling roll characteristics).

Thanks

Tiggs

How's your car going with the new springs?

Andy P

Reckoning is the MY01 doesn't need the "bumpsteer" mod, - it is upposed to be set up well in the first place.

Pete

So what camber and toe in are you using?

Hi Duncan

I'm using 1 deg negative camber front, 20 minutes of toe in front and parallel at the rear.

On my 99, I ran 2 deg negative camber and the same toe settings.

Can i just ask a question.

Pete Croney and Mike Wood (both respected members of this community) have both said in a previous thread that the MY01 and JUST springs is a bad idea.

Now we seem to be saying something else.

Can someone clarify - why is it now ok to fit lowering springs when they say it doesnt work well???

jza,

eibach say they work and various providers are fitting them with (they report) good results.

perhaps because the drop is only 25mm the probs that mike/pete spoke about dont show up?

to be honest for the sake of a £200ish i'm gonna try and see, my cars at the dealer next week being "enhanced in the engine department" so while its there i'll get the springs done and report back on it.

tiggs - looking forward to a much improved car next week
