Question Bog standard shocks/springs for Spec-D ?

One of the rear shocks on my Spec-D has rusted to bits and completely failed.

So I'm after new shocks and springs, probably for all four corners (sadly the underneath of my Spec-D is pretty rusty generally).

I don't want anything fancy, I don't want the car lowered, I just want as close to what the Spec-D came with as I can.

Ideally I want a full kit, with shocks and spring combined, I don't really want to mess about getting parts separately.

What are my best options ? Is whatever OEM stuff my mechanic finds going to be even vaguely close to what came with the Spec-D.

When I replaced all the shocks/springs on my 2000 Turbo myself it was easy, there were plenty of "standard" options available. Finding "standard" stuff for 2005-07 STi seems to be more challenging

I've made my mechanic aware that it is an STi not a WRX and warned him that the 2005-2007 are different from before and after. He's a good mechanic, but not a Scooby specialist...

The Pedders are no good, I don't want to lower the ride height.

What about the Tein Flex-Z ? Presumably they can be setup to the standard ride height ?

pedders are crap on widetracks, had 3 sets under warranty and all of them knocked their tw$t off.

Swapped to the flex z's and love them.

Coilovers can be adjusted to suit what you want so can get to oem ride height or as near as damit, although why not lower it a bit? they look like they are on stilts from factory. Mine is lowered and have no issues with speed humps etc (which is more if you go too low)

Looking at the specs on Tein's website it looks like you have to crank them right to the end of their adjustment range to not lower the car.

I guess I can cope with dropping it a bit.

How firm is the ride, compared to stock STi ?

I've ordered the Teins.

My mechanic had zero luck getting his usual trade suppliers to come up with any prices on parts. His main supplier wasn't interested at all, his secondary one wanted details off labels on the old shocks, which aren't readable of course.

All fitted now, with the standard Tein setup.

Well it is certainly lower...

Body roll is very much reduced.
It loves fast wide corners even more than it used to.
It really isn't that much more unpleasant on potholes etc (and I've got it on the firmest at the moment).
