Default Barca suffer, will Liverpool and Fulham ?

I always thought Barca woukld lose last night purely because of the travelling and I expect both Fulham and Liverpool to come unstuck.

Ok it's the way the cookie crumbles but it does give the home teams an advantage imo

600 miles via coach was not exactly a hardship for last nights match. Like Andy Gray said if it was a trip to Moscow via coach then fair enough.

Sets up an interesting 2nd leg at the Nou Camp where I can see Barcelona scoring two but I dont seem them keeping a clean sheet. Inters 3rd was blatantly offside but you win some and lose some of those decisions.

6 miles on a coach for these pampered star of today would be a hardship.

Andy who ?

I'd now like to see a Bayern Inter final I think that would be very enjoyable.

I thought Mourinho showed his class again yesterday with his tactics.

Im doubting they were on a National Express type coach either. Reclining chairs, personal masseuse, pasta and power drinks to hand. Ah the hardships of a professional footballer

That said Barca were looking very jaded and void of any ideas really. Hopefully theres plenty of goals in the 2nd leg. I dont really want Barca winning two on the trot especially when they beat us last year. But I would like to see more of Messi (the world cup is only around the corner though ). Andy Gray does annoy me when he starts adding letters to peoples names like Sneijders.

Jose is brilliant at closing down opposition. He neutralised Chelsea and has done the same with Barca which is some feat!

He is looking like he has one hand on the cup in my eyes. His old boss must be squirming.

Good results all round for the Dippers and Fulham, I cant tell if Liverpool suffered or if it was just their usual, I didnt see the game so cant comment.

I love Jose (no homo). Tonight showed though why football is becoming a farce. Tat sending off was pathetic. A ref from a small nation much like why Chelsea lost out last year. Hope Inter win it.

Not many teams could hold Barca off for the majority of the game the way Inter did last night. I thought it was an impressive performance and hope they go on to win

Very harsh decision on the handball to stop them winning, Toure could do nothing about it and his arm was against his body not flapping about. Big call for the ref to make and could have changed history!

Fecking class goal from Barca though

What spoiled it for me was the ammount of bloody diving that was going on

yup, then there was the blatant time wasting on top of that as well, then the reffs dodgy decisions (sending off, goal disallowed), ruined what could have and should have been a cracking match.

I think Inter went through on merit last night. It was never a red card, but even with 10 men they reduced Barca to just a couple of efforts on goal (Messi's 1st half shot & Bojan's 2nd half header). In fact the much vaunted Barca attack was utterly clueless until their 84th minute goal. As for the disallowed goal, the opportunity to score wouldn't have arisen if Toure hadn't played it with his arm in the first place, so it was definitely the right call from the ref (also the Inter goalie didn't bother trying to save it because the whistle had gone).

Barcelona were at home, needing to score at least twice to get to the European Cup final in Madrid and played an hour of the match against 10 men. I can't imagine any current English club holding out so comfortably under those circumstances, as Mourinho's foreign legion did last night. I'm not saying that we wouldn't have managed it, but I am sure it would have been a backs-to-the-wall panic-fest with shots raining in all night from everywhere, goal-line clearances, hitting the woodwork, man-of-the-match goalkeeping, penalty appeals, silly free-kicks on the edge of the area etc.

The first 83 minutes last night were just not like that, so you have to give Jose and his team credit. They didn't need to score: they'd already done that 3 times last week. I sure hope Inter beat the Jairmans in the final.

Jose played him there as in the first leg because of how Barca play. their full backs push on and the centre backs play far apart. he knew the gaps therefore were down the side behind the full backs and he wanted to use Eto'os pace there. It also gives the FB something to think about rather than going forward. also the other striker (name eludes me) has a greater work ethic without the ball which suits the counter attack style better.

that's my take on it anyway.
