Default police on way back from edzell yesterday!

it realy annoys me that they sit there just cos their has been a 1/4 mile on.
surly they should be encouraging these thing so people can do it not on the track and not the road.

their was 2 mobile setups in 2 miles one was a van.
any idea of the range on these vans as i was going a bit b4 i saw it!

just out of pure interest, where were the vans and what was the time?

Only saw 1 police car on the way down - the BMW - parked in an opening just before the Little Chef.

Sorry for breaking the fashion of slagging of the bab but unless they were sitting at the end of the quarter mile clocking people then they are doing their job! The racing should stop once you leave the venue. You are unlikely to have a head on collision or kill a pedestrian on a race track but it has been known on public roads.

They are always about at these days because there are always some boy racers driving like prats like the ones who overtook me going into a left hander and 30 limit at about 70. Why do these people always try anything to get past when your driving the scoob?

I was heading back to Dundee about 3:30 and before I got to Edzell, there was a tarted 206 on its roof, mashed into a tree.
I reckon anyone in the car would have been lucky to come out of it alive.
The road was closed, the ambulances had been and gone but there were still dozens of police and photographers in the area.

There were 4 mobile speed traps on the way to Dundee, inbetween the usual cameras and there were still plonkers ripping past me at 100+

There's a time and place for it and the dual carriageway back from a raceway isn't it if you've any sense.

Big Daz, Thanks for the reply.

Just to clarify, I wasn't speeding. Only wondered where as there wasn't any speed traps apart from the usual cameras & traffic car when i was coming down the road.

No arguements re the speeding issue.
I have had a clean licence for 12+ years now and intend to keep it that way, wasn't speeding anyway
SDB - i don't think the driver did get out

I appreciate the "you shouldn't be speeding" comments however it does p1ss me off when we come out of an event like Edzell and they are lined up along the side of the road trying to increase their turnover for the year. If they were there all the time then I would find it easier to understand.

Before anyone asks I wasn't speeding either

Didn't anyone spot the unmarked car with radar setup in the entrance to the quarry ?? on the road between the base and the motorway ? It wasn't there later on but early afternoon they were there.

Thumbs up

i think its good use of police time to sit on roads coming away from a 'race' meeting.

if they were not about - in fact made a decision to avoid it - then everyone would be foot to the floor

thats gonna cause deaths. you and ur m8s might be ready for it, but someone coming the other way will not.

ok, you might be safe enuff.. just speeding a bit in ur nice motor... but there are always idiots about - and they will be doing all the silly moves.

i know. ive been there done that. jumping in between cars. had someone pull out of a junction as i was overtaking. nearly never made it to the meet.

i havent done it since - coz of all the mobile traps that i saw/didnt see.

good deterent - and possibly saved my life. thankfully ill never know.

*self rightous mode off

here hear Phil

Wouldn't be the first time i've been almost cleaned up on the way to/from Crail.
Not saying i've got wings and a halo by any stretch of the imagination but it's the 17yr olds in their 2L 16v Novas coming the other way that's the danger.
A police <spit> presence does a bit to calm the octane-fuelled hormones of the exciteable 'racers'

The bottom line is they are EVERYWHERE these days ! Motorbike patrols can nail you from pretty much anywhere ..........I have had them jump out from behind a bus stop in Giffnock.......

Get yourselves down to KH for the trackdays and explore your weapon of choice their Not worth the grief elsewhere, even on v.remote roads
