According to Auto Express today, the chap that runs the BTCC has said that KH is likely to replaced by Rockingham in next years BTCC calendar. Apparently the big issue is over lack of garages and the pits

Nope,
the real issue is over money. Apparently the BTCC organisation wants about £150k payment from Knockhill for them to hold the event there.
At £30 per ticket, it takes 5,000 people just to cover this cost, and this is without the tens of thousands it costs to actually stage the event itself, plus all the preparation work, selling tickets, admin etc etc.
I think last years BTCC attendance was about 6,000 - 7,000 people over the whole weekend.
There was nothing wrong with Knockhill for the past 10 - 20 years they've been running this event, especially during the "glory" days of the 500+bhp Sierras etc.
Despite most of the drivers loving the venue (and most of the teams), it seems that money has won out in the end. A lot of the circuits down south can easily afford to pay the fees, and cover their costs through entry fees, but it's not so easy up in Scotland

Shame that Motorsport, like many other sports, dances to the sound of ringing cash tills now
I hope we don't lose it, but if they are wanting that sort of cash, I'd rather see it ploughed into developing KH than to line some fat cats pockets.

Just hope they can keep hold of the SuperBikes. That's a pretty good weekend too ! In fact, dare I say it, it's been more exciting than the touring cars the last few years !
Anyone know if the GT's are coming back our way next year ?? Don't think I can justify a season pass if they're not !!

perhaps the government should give KH money to pay BTCC for the good of motorsport in the UK (read more than England!)
actually, who cares about the BTCC races.. i prefer the support races... just bring them along

I'd heard from pretty reliable sources that Knockhill were reasonably confident about getting the BTCC back. Don't expect to see Superbikes though - they're demanding really silly money.....
