if i want a tad more
Hi All,
Ive got a 2003 uk WRX STI thats fitted with the prodrive pack. i absoloutly love it to pieces, and its one of those rare occurances of a completly unmodified car (unless your counting PPP) its only done 36k miles and until now been a weekend car only.
part of me thinks i should just keep it like that but just incase i ever decide i want a bit more, what would people recoomend.
cheers

cheers guys.
the PPP does the fuel pump aswell, didnt know that.
i know it does the exhaust, although its a sports cat not a decat,
how difficult or what does it entail, to take the cat and can i keep the rest of the prodrive exhaust,
also the PPP upgrades the ECU can this be mapped or does it require a new one.
340 sounds nice, not after anything massive. but saying that lmao what you done to hit the 4's
cheers

Yes you can replace just the sports cat with a decatted down pipe. Not difficult to do just a little fiddlely where the nuts are that bolt onto the turbo.
Yes the standard ECU can be remapped with out a problem.
If your not chasing big power then i would do exactly what Banny said in post 2

I am still running the standard ppp ecu and mapped to 1.45bar of boost, managed 401bhp by changing the headers, K&N induction kit, bigger injectors, sc42 turbo and a 3" miltek cat back exhaust. The limiting factors are that I am still on a top mount, I have a cat in the downpipe and the ecu, all of which will be getting changed when I build my 2.1

My05 sti ppp made about 340 with a k&n filter and remap (by Duncan),
kept hi flow cat as don't know friendly mot place, not sure what gains full de cat would have given a part from possible hassle at mot time

Well I can assure you that the prodrive package fitted by Subaru to the car included a high capacity fuel pump, it handles 400bhp no problem and I don't use an APR. This is a direct quote from the brochure and is exactly what was done on mine
Prodrive
March 2003
WRX STi Performance Package
KEY FEATURES
• Recalibrated engine management system • High capacity fuel pump • High flow catalyst
• Stainless steel sports exhaust silencer • Certificate of fitment to enhance resale values
• To fully benefit from the extra torque levels available, fitment of 18” wheels & tyres are
recommended.

hmm have to look in and confirm exactly what mines got, thanks for the advice, been reading other posts and seems the prodrive sports cat isnt to bad but its the backbox thats quite restrictive, what are your views on that.
340 with induction kit and remap. sounds perfect for me. might even change backbox if views seem similar about it being restrictive. thinking of leaving the cat as hassle for mot time but then again that may mess up my flame kit idea.... but thats another post lmao

Regardless to what fuel pump is fitted, its 10 years old. For the sake of £50 its a no brainer to fit a new one when you plan on asking it to work a little harder. Its just a bit of peace of mind imo.
As Banny said,
New fuel pump, full de-cat system and a remap. I'd maybe throw in a new fancy air filter while I was there along with some new oil, filter and plugs.
