Strange how I never noticed this noise before, but today I fired up the car and left it to idle whilst moving a bin on my drive.

On idle, it makes a ticking noise similar to the one in this vid but not as loud

The comments on youtube, and also after doing a bit of reading has suggested it to be the noisy injectors.

Hopefully I'm just being paranoid, but can anyone confirm?

I've got the same noise coming from mine I've also been told it could be a noisy injector hope it is only this.

I had a ticking after timing belt jumped 2 teeth on one cam ,since then the one bank has intermittent ticking .idle control gear seized causing loud screeching . Sometimes after heavy boost can cause slight damage. I'd check belt age etc or if poss get cover off just take look might be a sign wear. Could try old screw driver next to ear try track it down,but keep away from drive belts if u do that .

I have same noise on my 03 Sti. Never had an issue with it, they aren't exactly quiet engines. Im sure others will be along soon and confirm all is ok.

It's injector sound, had the same sound on all my subarus

Same as my 07 plate STi Spec D.

Louder on the passenger side whilst listening by the NSF wheel.
Mine is totally standard, pulls like a train and runs like a dream.

My wrx blob sounds like that when i put 95 ron unleaded in shuts up when i run it on sul 97+
