Scooby RB5 Advice?
#2
I'm not sure about pricing, but if you go to www.subaru.co.uk, it will tell you about everything that is in the WR Pack.
I have an RB5 Prodrive and from what I can tell, the differences are:
Prodrive Rear Wing
Prodrive Exhaust
Decat mid section
ECU
Quickshift Gear Lever
Uprated Brakes
Uprated Suspension
PIAA driving lights
Prodrive stickers
Erm......I think that is it.

Personaly, I have never seen the point of the RB5 models, they are just standard UK cars that are tarted up a little with body mods etc.
Why dish out the extra?

err, not exactly.
The only differences from the std RB5 and the RB5 WR sport are:-
Prodrive ECU
Prodrive De-cat centre
Prodrive Backbox
Prodrive IC piping
Prodrive Rear Wing
WR Sport-badged Speedo
That's it. There aren't any differences in suspension, brakes, etc.. unless the Dealer/Owner has upgraded them seperately.
Paul,
You're right but when the RB5 was release most people upgraded the cars with the same spec anyway i.e. 17" wheels, spoiler, PPP, etc. and with air-con you could spend just as much if you bought a std car.

Not necessarily Danny
As with most PPP options they can be added later or not at all but if memory serves, which it might not?
There were 2 versions of the RB5 with different pricing
Standard one was effectively a MY00 in Steel Blue with the Limited edition plaque and alcantera interior £24K I think
The WR version a MY00 ppp with
ECU
IC Hose
Declas
Spoiler
PIAA
Plaque
Interior
WR Sport Rev counter
Certificate
£27.5k
So you could say that an RB5 without the spoiler is not a true WR version but as long as it has the rest of the PPP that'll be the only difference.

Additionally the RB5 has greater ridigity than the standard car as well as it has a solid rear bulkhead (no split rear seats), also the standard MY99 didn't have colour coded sills, mirrors, etc etc
And there is always the exclusivity that comes with the special editions!
BTW Blue Steel as named by the UK is the same as Cool Gray (sti)

The RB5 ran with the STI5 shell as far as I know, with the fixed rear bulkhead.... helping it to being the best handling uk car!
The WR speedo display will show you the true WR's from the factory.... But at the end of the day it has a nice big wing and is a Limited Edition Car!! Which is still known as the Best Impreza buy! They also hold their values more than all the others bar the 22B. When Burns won the championship, my dealer offered me £2k more for it!

were standard wether or not the car was a WR or not. I drive a non WR RB5 and for the wheels and interior alone I thought the extra dosh was well worth splashing. Couple that with the fact that on parkers price guide the price for my non WR RB5 has been going UP. I think I made the right decission and that's all that counts.

If it helps this is a link (thats if I've added it right) to the brochure I found a while ago.
There is a page detailing the Prodrive package

If the url is posted wrong can someone remind me what to do!

Dont know of the extra security?? but I do have the 22B interior... and the doors cards... thought that was standard
The Mapp reading light is essential in the evenings.... You will only know that if you have been in a car without it and needed it

oh and dont forget there was only 160 official WR Sports ever made - you want exclusivity, you got it
The rear spoiler isn't gonna be cheap ... I would guess at a few hundred quid.
oh, and don't forget the prodrive quickshift (if it hasnt been mentioned).

(Perhaps that's why you don't see many on non WRSport/RB5 cars?)

Well I have a standard MY00 and Sideways had a MY97 and wanted to buy an RB5 WR. I thought he was mad at the time for paying the extra money for the silly little extras, but now he got it, and I've had a good look over it, I can understand why he bought it It's exclusive, and as mentioned before there are only 150 odd around. I would buy one myself if I got rid of my MY00.
Someone else has said that if you add up all the cost of all the extras you will find that it warrants the extra money Oh and it get more attention than my MY00.
Cheers Phill C

You pay the extra cash to be different from the crowd, plus the fact that when it comes to insurance time think of all those mods that are standard to the car. I got quotes before i bought mine, the rb5wr was £1300, MY99 with the extra spec £1900.
