£999 for a tin of WAX?
#1
Please help, I think Im going mad...
I looked at the price list for the Wax group buy thingy and saw, at the bottom of the page, an item costing £999.
Please can someone explain to me what is so special about the wax stuff featured in the group buy thing.
Sorry for sounding ignorant but I dont understand what it is that you get for your money or why it is so dear in the first place... is it everlasting wax or somthing? Do flying stones cringe in fear as they approach your car at 400 MPH on the motorway?

If you're into the concours thing (i.e. competition level stuff)then that's what you need. I doubt anyone would bother using such expensive waxes on an everyday car. If you look at Zymol's site there are waxes that are even more expensive!

What i would say though, is that i use WW "Mystery" wax, which is about £200 per tub.
And although it's hard to believe, it is even better. It's a bit like hi-fi upgrading - you pay silly amounts to get tiny further improvements, but it's personal preference as to whether they're actually worth it. Since my car is almost in concours condition, i think it is, but £200 is still a lot to pay for wax. Goodness knows what the £999 stuff is like...

Jeesuz Terry, £200 for a pot of wax; did you fall out a tree and land on yer head ??
When you say "Tub", did you actually mean "vat" or "50 gallon drum"

Stefan,
I know, i know. And no, just a regular pot, same as Mark's usual size. But you do have to see it to believe it. You apply it by hand, which is so much more effective than using cloths and so on, and the finish is simply fantastic.
I use my regular "Merlin" wax to do the wheels and stuff like that. Once you get on the concours trail, it's a slippery slope..!

What, you mean you have to use your "own" hands
For that money, I'd expect some hot, young busty blonde, soaped and ready to go doing it
Hope yer car's like teflon with that stuff

£999...that is correct. You did see that. It is available to special order only.
TThe wax is pure natural white/ivory carnauba wax and the content is 75% by volume and takes around 1000 saplings to make this.
You get 400grms presented in a solid teak container and a further 250 grms for ready use.
Terry, if you want some I will include it on the group buy and the other stuff you wanted you can have on me.

Mark (Underwood)
For the record,
Can you tell me the process that you go through to prepare / wax a car using this stuff?
I had a look at the Zymol website and they had a lot of advise to give but what I really wanted to see was a step by step guide to 'properly' waxing your car... Will you share your trade secrets with us all?
Mak.

Makalu...sure I will. The big secret is clean and then clean again and clean again. The approach is to be methodical and clean all nooks and crannies and to re-feed the paint with the heavy oils it has lost.
Our waxes have no cleaning ability whatsoever and therefore applying wax to a dirty surface will merely result is shiny ****e.
The method of the wax application and buffing is different for each wax and different for each manufacturer.
With each wax kit I supply the are instructions on each product and also a detailed step by step guide from filling the bucket to placing the towels etc in the wash.
Generally the high the wax content the better the gloss. Also the purer the wax (that is white/ivory wax) that is used the better the result.
Crap preparation done hap hazardly and rushing it will only produce a poor surface upon which to wax and therefore will give you a crap result no matter how good the wax. Remember it is not a race if you want the ultimate finish.
Had you jioned the group buy then you would have had the benefit of such instructions as they are written as though I am there telling what to do and which order to do it all in.

Has there been any independant tests on this product ie. is there a picture showing one half of a car done in normal wax & the other in this stuff? Autoexpress did a test on various polishes and used a photometer to measure the "shine".

This has got to be a "Muppet job"... I have heard nothing but good reports on "W/Wizzard" stuff .But this stuff is mental. "Comes in a Wooden Box" etc...!!!!! For £999.00 I will arrange for your car to be washed and polished by 3 full naked (No Dogs) leggy ladies who use various parts of their bodies to get a better shine. They use a special cream called " Fanny juice" its made by God and works wonders.
