Had a good 2 sessions on the Mazda track and sprint this morning changed down to second coming into the wiggle at Blyton park and bang 2nd gear gone got towed back to pits could locate first and reverse to get it on the trailer home , forced the hand now to get a 6 speed in.
6 track days 430lb/ft = standered box will go !

I found the 6 speed a bit difficult to get used to after the 5 speed.
But you cant knock the abuse it can take !
I,m gunna try these uprated shifter bushes in mine i think ?

Nothing is bulletproof, you can break 6 speed if you are not sympathetic to your gearbox.
I know will not hold the power for long, but really for us PPG is great just due ratios which are more suited for us on drag strip.
How long will last, who knows, but some people run at high 500bhp(in US guys run high 600whp)without the problem. If we have PAR straight cut,I would be worried more
If we will need to go with 6speed,we would go,as someone said " If it ain't broke, don't fix it "

Fact is only one, nothing is bulletproof,as my friend said Human stupidity is infinite

Is it not down to the 5 speed box design/construction more than the particular gearset that is an issue ?
How is the elite/clinic gearset doing now it has been around a while ?

I fitted a 6 speed to mine earlier this year, I went for a JDM 6 speed for the lower gearing & I love it. These seem to be going for more reasonable money now & are stronger & more cost effective than PPG. If you can afford it DCCD will give you more to play with on track too.

had plenty of rally cars with hi-torque on std 5spd boxes last no problem, and road cars that last less than 1 day.............
has a lot to do with how & when you shift (as well as a large dose of luck i guess) - in particular high rev down changing is an almost sure-fire way of destroying 2/3rd gears
