Default Confused ? Pipe hanging from bumper...

Hi All,

Noticed a pipe hanging down from my bumper today (1999 classic).

Sorry about crappy pic but its dark and just started chucking it down.

Been out in car and seems to be driving fine but this must have been connected to somewhere ?!?!? and can't find where ?

Any ideas ? It's a bendy pipe (can you tell I'm no mechanic !).

All the best,

Jeff

Can't see it on the pic, but maybe a pipe from headlamp washer or radiator overflow

Cheers, I will take a better pic in a bit once the sun (being hopeful there) is out.

I was thinking it maybe the headlamp washer as from the radiator (big after market job) and intercooler there seems to just be massive stainless steel pipes at either end.

If it is radiator overflow presume this should just run out and not be plugged into anything just like the coolant overflow pipe.

That looks like the pipe that carries the plasma coolant for the flux capacitor - let me guess, nothing significant happens when you hit 88 mph?

I'm a bit worried now...

I have followed the pipe round and it goes into a hole next to the headlamp and has a plastic T piece at the end. Both ends of this have no pipe ? and nothing else seems to be loose ?

that im not sure about
going to be looking at it properly today and put it back together
but it is definitely for the headlight washers nothing to do with the coolant system

Thank you, put my mind at ease.

I had a good look and couldn't see where it goes, also why a T piece with nothing on the end of either ?

If it's 100% the headlight washers I can live with as honestly not even used once since I got the car nearly a year ago now.

The mention of coolant system had me worried but I thought that surely there would be a pool of coolant on the drive and there is not.

Please could you let me know how you get on ?

All the best,

Jeff

Unless it's been blocked/modified at the upper end, it will empty your washer reservoir.

Take a picture of your washer reservoir. Some people swap them with the smaller JDM ones, to gain a little space, as they don't hae two pumps.

That's it, smaller one with one pump, previous owner must have just left pipe in there and it has eventualy worked its way loose...

Now next job when sun comes out is clean that engine bay...
