Default WRX STi Spec D soundproofing?....

Hi,

Apparently my 07/07 Spec D has extra sound proofing? There is a sound proofing blanket on the underside of the bonnet, but is that it?

The engine is so quiet at higher speeds, hidden by wind noise I think.

Can't remember if my 04/54 WRX STi UK blob had that soundproof blanket or not?

Also, does anyone else hear water washing in the rear wheel arches, or is it just me? I seem to remember it on my old one, like I can hear the water spraying into the arches with this fine summer we are having lol!

Say's who???

Under bonnet heat insulator standard on all imprezas until they get wet and start falling apart Very expensive to replace for what they are.

Most people add soundproofing to trunk floor and inside doors for improved sound from upgraded ICE equipment.

I read it somewhere, also has uprated speakers - so the article said anyways.
I'll try and find it and put up a link.

Here is a link, and read somewhere else about the sound deadening, 5th paragraph down "What doesn't it do well?"

More links with a mention of extra sound deadening, but none are saying where. Perhaps under the carpet?

I thought that the sound deadening is under the carpet, that's what is implied in the brouchue ( below )

Spec D 1

Spec D 2

Spec D 3

I also hear water is the wheel arches quite a bit along with being able to hear the rain against the roof and boot lid much louder than in my Golf daily driver.

Wow, thanks for this. I wondered if I had auto levelling headlights, now I know why I don't have an adjuster in the cabin.

Whats an Electroluminescent Combination Meter??!!

You've got Xenon lights with auto levelling.
The ECM are just fancy dash dials. They should go through a pretty start up routine when firing it up, although this can be disabled.
There is also rev limit warning light that is user adjustable.
I never found any obvious additional sound deadening in my old Spec D.
The rain noise is from having a thin steel body with some aluminium panels here and there.
