Yes you will need to tax the car to drive it, will be cheaper than getting them to deliver it.

try shiply.com. To be honest I would not like to tow a car 200 miles. I guess the options are:
a) Tow it (200 miles would put me off this)
b) Trailer it - by the time you factor in trailer hire and petrol (400 mile round trip) it all adds up
c) Hire transport company to move it (May seem pricey but by the time you factor a&b above and shopped around for best price) This would be the best and safest option I think
d) Tax it and drive it and then cash in tax. Still gonna have to splash out petrol to get it and the wasted tax costs.

Trade plates? Do you need tax for them?

I doubt if thats legal. If you hire a towing dolly even if only the back wheels are on the road it must be fully road legal so all four wheels on the road will deffo be illegal.

Do you know someone with trade plates who'd do it for a few quid?

I don't know if this is possible but here goes

Put 6 months tax on it and drive it home, if you need insurance try dayinsure

Once you have it home take the tax disc back to the post office for a refund? (tell them you have sold it) then send your forms off to sorn it.

Book it in for an MOT for that day with a time and you can legally drive it there. With no tax or insurance. If you get stopped just give them the mot stations number to confirm.

Just remembered, This only works if theres no mot on the vehicle.

Police say you have to have an mot before you can insure then tax.

Sorry

It has to be a testing station close to where the car is.
Otherwise everyone would do it,if you can think of that idea in your head don't you think the plod would've thought of it too ?

You still need insurance to drive it to an MOT station I was told. I just normally get a day insurance out.

Jump on train to your brothers. Day insure it and tax for 6 months online beforehand. Drive home with a big smile on your face from the Scooby burble. Sorn the car and at worst will cost one months tax if you get 5 back out of 6.

Total cost is days insurance (£30-40?), one months tax (£20), and petrol (£60).

Job done.

Next.
