remap from v power to 95 octane??
hi all
I was just wondering if it would be possible to remap my sti5 from its current 99 octane v power map to a 95 octane map to save money.
I appreciate there would be implications for power etc but it would enable me to keep the car for longer.
The cars mapped by andy forest and made 319bhp and 311lbs/ft.

Yep it’s possible but wouldn’t have thought it would save you much money in the long run if you take into account the cost of the map and the few extra miles you get on v power.
I am going to do this and remap mine from 99 to 95 on next map purely because 99 is getting increasingly more difficult to get hold of in my area. One of the large Tesco stations has just stopped selling it. Only 1 I can get it from locally, it’s a pain!

yeah its going to need a map tweek for about 150quid to the existing map, the cars my daily driver. Id sold some stuff on ebay and built up funds so the moneys there to offset the cost of the map tweek. Usualy doing about 26mpg in normal driving.

I don't think its worth it if your doing it to save on your fuel bill. It does make sense if getting 99ron is an issue or you have duel maps and want a 95ron option if you travel abroad or long distances where finding 99 is a pain in the bum.

I have multiple maps as suggested by chopperman, and on a long motorway cruise test i saw no difference between 95ron economy and 99ron ..... think the only differences show themselves when you start to push it on a bit!
Power wise, the 99 mapped conservatively to 440/410 and the 95 mapped similarly to 410/390.
Know none of this is what you asked, but thought you might like to know. :-)

95 octane - might be 3 or 4 quid a tank cheaper but then theres the mpg issue with lower octane fuels...............more confused now. V power and tescos momentum stations are near my work so that counts that out as a reason.
