Default Best thing to use for cleaning....

What can i use to clean my engine bay with? I live in the sticks so it gets covered in mud and cr*p on a regular basis! Thought i better clean it today as i was doing the car and just used the finishing spray i had in my hand at the time, drove it down the road later on and there was smoke coming through the bonnet vents, after a quick check it seemed the boost hoses had disagreed with what i had put on them! Luckily it burned off pretty quick, so what do you guys use?? My engine bay is pretty much all painted inc all the plastic bits. Thanks in advance

I have used auto glym engine degreaser in the past. Be careful where you are spraying water , use a watering can and not a pressure washer

as much as I wouldnt go against what PB normally say, I dont agree with foil on the alternator or battery terminals, cling film or plastic bag, the foil could short out.

Thats pretty ironic! I should of recognised the little orange sticker on the front really, although it came off then the car was sprayed. I never saw it with an engine in though in my defence!

Best get cleaning then!
