Newbie saying hi!
Picking up my first Scooby sometime this week so thought a hello would be the polite thing to do.
I didn't plan on buying one, went to look at a nice sensible diesel estate but had a test drive and fell in love. Insurance seems a bit pricey but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. £1200 is cheapest so far, 34 yrs old with 6 yrs NCD and live in a nice area pcode OL5. Checked on the police website and vitually no car crime in this area so cant understand why its so much.
2004 WRX with FSH and 57K miles in Black 100% Standard. Anything that I need to get done at this mileage??

Anyone seen it before?

Drove past that one on saturday, was at a dealers in Dukinfield, and as for post codes, its an OL one, so you will pay the cost unfortunately, you are best trying Keith Michaels (MoleyWRX on here, check out the insurance section), he got mine down as my area is a BL postcode but really quiet area, tarred with the same brush as some of the higher crime BL postcodes but Gary sorted it and im paying less than I did last year
Tony
PS, check where its been serviced

Yeah belts need to have been done , I am picking my bug up this week on 52k and planning to carry out the recommended items as per the 60k schedule
I.e
Oil & filter
Spark plugs,
Gearbox and rear diff oil
Air filter
Coolant
Brake fluid
Pollen filter (this ain't mentioned on the schedule but doesn't cost much to replace)
The little lot above will cost around £130 all in and I will be changing it myself, if you are paying a garage then your costs would go up quite a bit

I'm 29 and I pay £700.
I paid £500 for an Evo when I was 27...yours sounds a tad expensive to me.

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking blob you have there mate. Without knowing your conviction and or accident history I would say £1200 is alot. I'm 33 with full no claims, all mods declared and have my 31yr old wife in my policy and am paying £680.

Been onto Keith Michaels and spoke to Gary. Reason its so high is no previous experience of driving this type of car. Wasn't able to find the £1200 quote again so had to stump for £1400 with Subaru Insured. I have no convictions or previous accidents but as said its an Oldham postcode even though I live in leafy Mossley. First year is gonna be difficult but hopefully be better next year.
