Just a quickie how much should I torque the steering boss nut? I'm changing for an aftermarket wheel and boss, thanks in advance and happy new year all

Tight. It's a Ny-loc nut so should stay tight.

Difficult to torque it accurately anyway as the steering column will move.

Not at all Jeff, some are as low as 25Nm,it's because they are on a taper and if over tightened can be a REALLY BIG pain to get off.
I broke a vectra steering wheel once to get it off after someone had over done it on the nut

Yeah the nut will always come undone even when over tightened but the wheel is a different matter,it grips the taper and like I said it can lead to destroying the wheel/colum to get it off.

As Prodriverules says really mate. Can be a royal pain in the tear to get off if put on to tight.

never known a steering wheel to come off because of the taper ,when i removed my standered wheel to fit the boss the nut came off really easy but as mentioned the wheel itself is another matter ,i had to really grab hold and pull like buggary to get it off it came in the end .
