Sounds like a good choice to me Listen out for knocks from the suspension on test drive and also check the engine over and that it makes no odd noises.
The sti will have the Brembo brakes all round and the 6 speed gearbox, sti interior etc so just make sure it is what it's advertised as and not a dressed up wrx

Check the service book is all stamped and up to date 50 and 60k services can be in excess of £600. Make sure if nothing else the cambelt was changed 5 years or 50,000 miles with proof and or receipt. Get 2 keys , a single key costs £250 last year when i brought mine. If you do a search of the forum you will find many threads on the difference between the type uk and the jdm japanese domestic model.

what year is the car you're looking at?
Being a UK will make it cheaper on insurance than an import but theres pros/cons with then depending on the year and spec.
If its a classic, pre 2001 then look for rust along the rear arch where it meets the bumper as this is double skinned and expensive to fix. History is a must, plus check for cambelt changes etc. Always hear the car start from cold to check for piston slap, and let the owner drive it to see how its treated.
If its been modified you want as much details as possible, especially if its had a map so you know where to go back to for further tweeks. If its standard then game on, prepare to empty you wallet in the quest for more toys and power!
