Best springs to lower a WRX on 18" wheels just a little bit and best place to buy them?

Thanks

There is a good topic in the suspension section mate. Can't post the link as I'm on my phone but look up Prodrive vs Ebaich springs

Eibach or Pi are good,Eibach can lower car up to 30-35mm and Pi can lower up to 40mm,or you can have look for Tein,G-Max

I have Prodrive springs on mine. They give about a 20-25mm drop and don't ruin the ride - thoroughly recommend them. Got mine from a Subaru dealer via eBay.

If you lower it, DO expect it to roll MORE, won't you?

How much did you pay for your Prodrive springs as that's the route I want to take? Says £200 on their site is that right as that's the same as Ebaich?

(Eibach make the Prodrive springs BTW but to their own spring rates / design)

WOODBUTCH on here was selling Eibach P1 springs a couple of months ago for £100 DELIVERED ! Told me that I bought a last set but might be worth to ask, maybe he's got some more.

Prodrive advertise less roll on their site so why would this be?

Are they not as good as standard WRX springs?

No he's not.

You'd only get more roll if the springs were significantly softer but since practically all lowering springs are stiffer too you end up with less roll. The lower center-of-gravity of the vehicle helps resist roll as well.

You have a slightly different rear top hat design but I think the springs are the same - ping them a quick email (they're a Subaru dealer IIRC).

Oh yes he is

As the car's height decreases, the distance between the COG & roll centre starts to get on the high side increasing the tendency to roll, as well as creating some other strange handling characteristics (hanging on the bump stops for one)

Stiffening the springs mitigates roll a little, but at the expense of ride. Low COG by itself does not resist roll

A roll centre correction kit is a must to correct the dynamic geometry problems caused by the lowering

Depends on how low you go... if you start slamming to the floor then yes, the effect on your roll center will result in your handling being screwed without correcting the geometry.

The amount of drop mentioned on this thread though is not huge and will reduce roll rather than increase it.

Aaaggghhhh!!! Every time I think I'm learning about this molding lark someone throws a spanner in the works lol

Would lowering using prodrive springs ie 25mm really cause much of a negative impact to handling and if so what are the alternatives?

Bonsetter mentioned a correction kit what are these?

Are coilovers a better option? I thought these gave a much harsher ride and are more beneficial for track use

Thanks

What they mention is the negative effect of lowering the car too much. Beyond a certain point, the change in roll center caused by lowering has a negative impact handling of the car.

Fitting coil overs and lowering them too much will have the same effect as putting springs with too much drop onto standard struts as the control arms, lateral links, etc will still be mounted in the same places.

When dropping the car by a significant amount, you need to move the mounting points to correct the geometry - hence the correction kit.

The 20-25mm drop from the Prodrive springs is not enough to require changing the mounting points. I have these springs fitted and can testify that there is an improvement in handling and a reduction in body roll from them.

@NormanTheDog & @Gary_WRX, basically as far as springs go it's Prodrive or Eibach. The reality is that there's not that much to split between them and both will make improve the handling over stock springs.
